When Beastmode retired and Carson was hurt, we changed up to more pass heavy, why? Because our bad line didn't have a PHYSICAL BACK THAT COULD MAKE YARDS ON THEIR OWN. Once those backs were not available, we were easy to defend. We had yards between the 20's, we shot ourselves in the foot time and time again with Penalties, long 3rd downs, 3 and outs all game long, we failed at 3rd and short consistently where when we won we were getting those short yardage conversions. Goes back to our investment in the O line and Pete's control, of personnel and the offense along with Wilsons limitations and being figured out.

Pete failed the team with his stubborn inflexibility, not with changing Coaches and OC's DC's, but his narrow focus on schemes. He wanted what the Rams had, but handcuffed his OC, he wanted what Schotty had, but handcuffed the OC, He succeeded with Bevell until his scheme was countered and Wilson figured out along with losing the teams confidence after the SB loss.

In fact he really does remind me of Bud Grant and Chuck Knox in as much as being very inflexible about that aspect of his coaching.

You have always been Russ blameless, Pete is bad. I get that.

However, this is 100% on Mr. Wilson.

Let's follow the logic on how this went down.

Wilson wanted Waldron according to the reports during Waldron's hiring. Within a week after the hiring, when Waldron would have spoken to Wilson extensively and received the extensive playbook, Team Me3 released to the press that Wilson had no confidence in the Seahawks coaching staff. Do you believe that Wilson was talking about the hiring of Clint Hurrt who some of us knew was trash?

Highly doubtful. He saw the motions and how it would force him to read defenses in real time at the line of scrimmage which he knows is not his strong suit. You are absolutely right we used it in game one, but I seem to be the only one that ever brings up game two. Wilson was back to doing what he does, taking long shots down the field when there are people open underneath that would move the sticks. Carroll was asked about it in the post game press conference after Wilson's hero ball tendencies had him throwing into double coverage well past the sticks when there was an open guy in overtime that would have had us continue the game. Carroll said that he wishes our QB would help us out there and take the open guy underneath.

Wilson's answer in his Monday press conference when asked about what Carroll said was, "I know how to win. And we have done a lot of that." This right here is a colossal red flag that Wilson was now doing whatever he wanted and not going to worry about the offensive coordinator or the head coach. Fast forward to the Rams game when Wilson got hurt, and the offense had more plays that we had not seen while Wilson was in the game. Geno was able to run what Waldron wanted, to the point where Wilson came back before he was fully healthy.

As far as motion, our percentage in 21 16.2%, which was higher in the games Geno was playing. In 22, it was 17.7%. In 23, it was 26.4%. We were top fourteen in every season. Last season, it was good enough for seventh in the league. So, the question is why do fans not recognize the motion we are doing? Why does Wilson get a pass when we discuss it, when he was the one that didn't want it?

Lol. Your using an example of Wilson missing an open receiver in a game? I know no other NFL QB ever does that, but come on now. You also say the offense was changed because Wilson couldn't read defenses, but refuse to explain how he ran it so well that first game before it got scrapped. Also, when Wilson said he wasn't happy with the staff, i'm pretty sure he was aiming higher than the coordinators with that statement.

You also go into how the offense opened up suddenly again with Geno as if he is something special. Lol. There's a reason he sat behind so many other QB's including Wilson.

And these stats that you and others like to throw around trying to defend your opinions, well let me throw out a famous quote from the legendary Lou Holtz - "Liars figure and figures lie". I think a lot of people are blind to what's in front of them because their too busy trying to find something else.

There are several videos of Kurt Warner analyzing Russ playing QB. He shows over and over again how Russ has open receivers that he doesn't throw to, but instead waits for the downfield shots. Waiting for those shots could mean a great completion, or it could mean a sack or incompletion. In one video Warner emphasizes that Russ needs to take the easy layups that will move the chains.

It's not just fans on this board, it's hall of fame experts that criticize Russ for these things.

I could post literally every video that the QB School and QB Confidential made, both while he was here and with the Broncos, illustrating the amount of times that Wilson has missed open receivers constantly and you would come up with a way to twist it. However, the point was Wilson's attitude about knowing better than playing the way the coaches were drawing up plays.

Absolutely correct. He wasn't better than two future hall of famers or Wilson before he went all Me3. Never argued against that. Nor at any point did I say he was something special. He simply handles pre-snap motion reads better than Wilson has at any point in Wilson's career.

Laughable. Simply denying the fact that we have used motion since Waldron was hired at least better than half the league directly negates the claims that we stopped using motion after game one is laughable.

Did the infallable Kurt Warner have any opinions or analysis on why he might be doing those things like obtaining habits from running for his life constantly due to crap Olines. Any opinions on why he still won games with those habits? Any opinion on why he is the franchises greatest QB ever? Any opinion on why Geno Smith sat behind him?

I could literally post the same video for every QB that has played the game. Its not just a Russell Wilson thing. Yeah, Wilson wasn't perfect. That's not news.

Two different QB's with different skillsets, so ok.

Nobody is saying they took motion away. Just saying it was changed and not for the better. I still say Pete put the skids on it. Was it too many opportunities for turnover, inability to manage the clock like he likes, confusion,,,,,who knows, but it did get neutered.

No the Vikings gave up 25.4points a game, like i said rank 30th. Further proof, you can have a bad defense and still produce offensively like the Vikings and win. You can give Geno a pass for having a bad defense, not getting enough time of possession but maybe if he wasn't so bad in 3rd downs, he would have gotten more possessions. He was also terrible in the redzone. How many excuses will you give for him? I mean backup Drew Lock did ok, when he came in for Geno. We all know he isn't really a starting QB. It wasn't a big dropped off. We even got a must win against the Eagles.
First of all, before anything else, you of all people should refrain from trying to throw out a "how many excuses?" line. I'm pretty sure the next time you comment on a Russell Wilson thread without throwing Pete Carroll, Nathan Hackett, or Sean Payton under the bus will also be the first time.

Second, I see where the issue lies about the Vikings: they were tied for 28th in points allowed in '22. It was a three-way tie, so technically, one of those three teams could be '30th' but they all had the same total points allowed. However, to begin--this is still a volume stat, subject to the same issues as total yards, and still NOT the stat we've been talking about so far in this thread. I know you love volume stats, but we've been avoiding them for a reason. Additionally, even if I were to just grant you Kirk Cousins and the '22 Vikings as sort of a 'freebie' (I still won't by the way, this is just for the sake of argument)... Kirk Cousins still didn't get a victory in the playoffs in '22, so he STILL wouldn't have accomplished what we're saying here so Aaron Rodgers would still be the only QB in 15 years to do it. (And yes, 1 QB in 15 years does count as rare. 2 would have as well.)

Third, regarding the Drew Lock stuff... no, just no. Lock wasn't even ok. I know this line was just garbage you're throwing at the wall to see what sticks, so you can click here and just read the numbers since you didn't add anything worth refuting on its own.

I don't get why the Russ-obsessives feel the need to try and trash Geno. You are aware that--no matter what you say about Geno--it's not going to make Russ any less washed, right?
Your man wouldn't even be on a team if he didn't take league minimum this year. Only QB in the league getting paid 39 times as much from a team to NOT play as he is making to play, and you want to tell me about Geno not being a starter?

Bro do you really think 28, 29, or 30 makes a difference? That's bottom tier defense of allowing points for other teams. Time of possessions they were rank 26th. They also had bottom tier rushing yards/percentage first downs. Not much weapons except for the QB & receivers. So Geno shouldn't have excuses if he really is that good.

As for Drew Lock, he won 1 game lost 1 game. .500 record which is almost the same as Geno. That was against 49ers & Eagles. Yet Geno is getting paid 40million this season.

Do you ever have anything of value to add to these conversations? Or is low-effort trolling your thing?
Can't handle the truth? I find it funny, and I couldn't give 2 sh*** what you think of me or my comments.

It's funny to me, sorry that hurts your feels. It's been over 2 f'ing years, get the F over it. Geezus. It's like being in Jr. High again. But.......it's hilarious that some people are STILL obsessed with everything he does. I love it, it's truly entertaining. He's gone, it's a good thing. I was happy when he left, and I'm even more happy he's gone now. And they absolutely robbed the Donkeys in that trade. Win

What I said was: 1) You're still talking about the wrong stat. I already told you why I didn't use a volume stat. 2) Even if I gave you the freebie of using the wrong stat for an inaccurate example, Kirk Cousins STILL didn't do what was being called for, which was lead a bottom 4 defense to a playoff victory. So that leaves Aaron Rodgers still the only dude to accomplish it in 15 years. 3) Even if Kirk Cousins had done the thing he didn't do, using the wrong rating scale, that would still be only 2 QBs out of 60 (+1) squads in the last decade and a half to do it.

I don't need to make an 'excuse' for why Geno didn't accomplish something that only 2 (but really only 1) QBs in the past 15 years did, any more than why I need to make an excuse for Drew Brees not doing it.

Your entire fail of a point wouldn't be a knock on Geno, it would have merely been a big boost for Kirk Cousins... except, you used the wrong numbers. And he didn't do the thing, even if they were the right numbers.

As for Drew Lock, he won 1 game lost 1 game. .500 record which is almost the same as Geno. That was against 49ers & Eagles. Yet Geno is getting paid 40million this season.
Yeah, because Drew Lock wasn't remotely as good as Geno last year. Wins aren't a QB stat. We've been over both of these things already.

I never said he was infallible. But I trust his judgement on QBs just a little bit more than I trust yours, or anyone else on any fan site.
