I figured they would trade MJ to someone. He showed enough to have value to teams in need of a corner, but we are soooo deep at that position that he might have been cut. Not that he was bad, but b/c you have to let the young pups feed.

I'm intrigued by Barrett. From wiki:
Barrett finished his breakout 2022 season starting 14 games, with 72 tackles, five tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and 3 pass deflections. Barrett was named Third-team All-Big Ten.

Barrett returned to the Wolverines for the 2023 season, his final season of eligibility. Barrett opened the season as one of Michigan's six team captains.Barrett won a national championship with Michigan in 2023, and earned a third-team All-Big Ten selection, making him a two-time All-Big Ten selection. Barrett started all 15 games, finishing his final season with 65 tackles, 3 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.

If we have faith that MM knows WTF he's doing on D and he goes after his college Mike that will be familiar with some/most of the system, that is what I need to know. He also sounds like a ST baller, oh and was a captain.

For MJ, I am good with this.

A big advantage that Pete Carroll had when he first took the Seahawk job is that he knew the college landscape. Even if given players within the next couple of rookie classes didn't necessarily play for, or against him, Carroll probably at least recruited them. In other words, familiarity was his main attribute relative to player acquisition.

MacDonald is in the same situation. The best thing that you can say about Barrett is that Macdonald coached him. MacDonald knows who he is. Jay Harbaugh knows who he is. Forget what some internet pundit has to say about this player because the coaches that acquired Barrett watched him practice every day. There is no guesswork here. They know what they are getting, and they specifically made it a point to go get him.

Or Mac makes him a in the box Safety, at this level free roaming Middle LB that can change assignments based on need if size is the knock on him.

I’m late to the party as I’ve had a busy day so far but when I saw this trade it looked to me to be two teams with players that may not have made the roster being shipped off for a position that needs depth. If you’re likely to not keep a player then I’m sways happy to see us get something in return.

Michigan... makes sense. But holy catfish. That's an incredibly impressive highlight reel. I think he could find himself a spot. At the very least, top special teamer, spot roles on Defense. He's what you call a football player. Even offense running the ball. Ok. Alright. Alright. Bring your game Mr. Barrett. We'll take you.

So, I wonder if Canales knew Michael Jackson was available but JS and Coach insisted upon Barrett? Could become a fan favorite.

Ok... waiting for the negative news on the player. What gives?

All this love for Mike and he’s not even the GOAT anymore. Thought I heard that Swift surpassed his ticket sales the other day.

Just watched the 2nd half of Panthers vs Jets. Barrett seemed to do a good job getting to the ball carrier and getting the tackles. Which does seem to be fairly important to McDonald. I think this will end up being a good depth trade.

Hawkblogger seems to think Darryl Taylor will be traded next to the Panthers or Titans.

I wonder if Coby Bryant also will be moved on.
