...fortunately, we're gonna be okay.

GU iu25a4AIYkEu

THIS makes quarterbacks and OCs nervous.

Not byzantine defensive schemes with DB's exchanging inscrutable semaphore and interpretive dance during the snap count.

Not flopping around like a gutless fish to hire anyone who's ever shaken hands with Vic Fangio.

Not getting rid of your entire DL in 2023.

Not signing Michael frickin' Wilhoite.

QUARTERBACKS. GETTING. THEIR. OWN. LINEMEN. SHOVED. BACK. INTO. THEIR. FACES.

THIS is what our defense has been missing for eight years. Quarterbacks haven't been uncomfortable in their pockets against us for eight years. Even good DE signings have only given limited returns without it. This is what got Pete fired. He couldn't replace Mebane. He couldn't find "the guy". We could have had it with Jesse Williams, Jordan Hill, or Malik McDowell. They were all good enough, but they all got injured and couldn't get past it.

Haven't had dancing QBs on the other since since 2015 and I am more than ready to have it back. Everything else is downstream from that, and that alone. Fight me.

There's no good answer for consistent interior pressure. It is the most valuable defensive commodity in the entire league.

He was the right pick. All day long. I'm shocked he made it to 16 - there was a lot of talk about Chicago taking him at 9. As much as I like Odunze, I would've taken him there if I were them.

Murphy was a slam dunk pick. It was all over his college tape. His knack for leverage and penetration is innate.

I'll grant he was just a bit of a pipe dream for him to last that long (that's what she said), so that'll be some people's way out. ;) Fair enough.

But the fact that he's performing at this level as a rookie...excellent trajectory. Grady Jarrett was a common comparison during the draft and I've got no reason to doubt it now. Murphy's looked great technique wise and he's got the motor.

I've seen a couple of articles now that say he was the second defensive player taken. He was the first defensive player taken right?

Reports were, that if Odunze was gone before #9, then Chicago would've taken Murphy. We could've easily missed out if the Giants liked Odunze better than Nabers.

Latu was the first, drafted by the Colts right before Seattle.
Such a risky pick. Latu is a very complete edge player, but between his fairly average athleticism and the possibility that a single reaggravation of his neck injury will end his career, I could never take him in the top 16.

I guess they already have Buckner, but I can't imagine that the Colts are in such a strong position that they feel emboldened to draft for need over prospect quality.

Still baffles me. I would've taken Verse and Turner ahead of Latu as well. Hell, Quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold too, not to mention trade down possibilities.

We need a MLB
With Donald did it matter who the Rams MLBs were?

Did they not have a better season in ‘23 than ‘22. And that was with a mf like Chris Rozebloom inheriting Bobby Wagner’s spot. Seemed like a healthier Donald fixed some things for their D.

And don’t sleep on Knight, he seemed solid against the Chargers even though his instincts looked like he was reading a lot more than he was reacting.

I see some of you say that it was a longshot that he lasted to the Seahawks pick. Honestly, almost every mock draft I saw had him going to Seattle or even a little bit lower, so I’m not sure where you are getting your info from.

Well if rumors of a long term contract for Smith are true. We could draft a LB this next draft.

He was 13th on the consensus big board and was a late riser. No one really expected the first 14 picks to all be offense.

Also, the vast majority of mocks had the Chargers going WR. This would've pushed Joe Alt to the Titans and pushed Odunze likely to the Giants. Byron Murphy was a near certainty to be taken 9th overall in that scenario.

I wouldn’t say he was a near certainty to be drafted by the Bears. In the scenario you described, the Bears could’ve easily taken Malik Nabors since they obviously wanted a receiver. Just taking a quick look through the major draft sites most had Murphy going to the Seahawks or later. In fact, there were 15 other teams that had a chance to pick him and did not. He was taken at number 16 because the other 15 teams thought there was a better player for their needs. Am I glad the Seahawks got him, absolutely. However, his value in the draft was at 16.
