Seahawks are ranked 23rd. Seems kinda low. I would think we would be at least top 15, but 23. NFL media thinks Seattle is hot garbage.

Until proven on the field, yeah...Seattle is hot garbage. The last few seasons have been trash, it is what it is.

The new regime needs to show what this team is moving forward. Thankfully, that's right around the corner.

Nobody knows what to do with the Seahawks right now when it comes to rankings and predictions because of the new coaches/schemes. Nobody's seen it on the field yet. Things will start normalizing a few weeks into the season.

Pre season rankings, well low or high doesn't matter till things get real, nobody can rank us adequately yet since nobody knows what our product will look like with virtually new everything except our core players who have been slighted in the player rankings as well.

I like it actually, players will have chips, team collectively will have a chip, coaches will have chips to prove the mediots again know nothing.

I don't think Seattle has been hot garbage over the last few seasons . I'm certainly not happy with the results but I see them as severely average.
A decent offense at times and a underperforming defense.

Yeah they were hot garbage .

I invite the low rankings. Removes the damage lofty expectations can bring and provides fire for this young team. If MM can do what I think he can, no need for distraction of hyped expectations.

No one knows anything this time of year. The nfl.com list has the teams who made the playoffs last year at the top of the rankings, but the league changes quickly. The Chiefs are #1, but they have problems on the offensive line and a weak WR room and lost L'Jarius Sneed.

The Ravens are #3, but Derrick Henry is 30 years old and going into his 9th season in the NFL. Marshawn retired at that age (the first time).

The Rams are #14, but they lost Aaron Donald, and Stafford is a year older.

For sure, some teams ranked in the top 10 will finish out of the money. Eagles? Bill? And some ranked lower will contend.

Pre season is all about evaluating the teams depth beyond the starting line up. 23rd is a great place for us, those ranking will start to matter at week four of the season. Until then let the oh ! so great media be the fool.

Cheers

23. Seattle Seahawks
Amid the offseason ennui, I teased the idea of Sam Howell perhaps pushing Geno Smith at some point this season, and Smith’s injury appeared to open that door a crack. However, Smith has now returned to practice, and it doesn’t sound like a change is happening anytime soon. The 33-year-old has never been that next-level quarterback, but he’s led the Seahawks to winning records the past two seasons. Even with Seattle having three ace receivers who need their touches, I view Smith as a strong bridge QB for Mike Macdonald, sort of a ball distributor in the Alex Smith vein. But Macdonald must whip into shape a defense that was coming on last October before melting thereafter. It’s pretty much a refresh, even with plenty of returning pieces. The front and secondary have loads of potential. If that defense comes together, this low ranking will egg my face pretty well.

I understand taking a wait-and-see approach with the Hawks given the inexperience in the coaching staff, but 23 does feel low. I'd at least have us above the Jaguars, Bears, and Falcons. I guess the explanation seems fair at least.

What does stand out though: Steelers 13th? Jets 15th? wtf?

Not that my opinion means jack diddly but if I were to HONESTLY give my opinion not just as a Seahawks fan but as an NFL fan I would probably rank the Seahawks currently (again, a silly notion in August I get it), somewhere around 13-15.

I was thinking 16. No game info to go on, decent but not great last couple years and picked up the top D player in the draft. Right in the middle is reasonable. Personal expectations are higher…but I think 16 is a subjective place.

Power rankings can change fast. We don't even have the new scheme installed at this point

Well, we better be close. I’m mathematically illiterate, but .net says there are 31 days until the season starts.

I can read Jersey’s.
It's not going to even be close in game one, but it should be in game 2. Our new offense is curiosity at this point. The PR could change dramatically if we win. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
