I know everyone was excited about Adams, but if we're being honest the defense played extremely well and cohesively after he left the game.

I'm sure there's room for a healthy Adams, but as I said in another thread I'm worried about the same thing happening that happened last time we move him down into the box to "freelance," HUGE gaps in the defense allowing big plays cause it create chaos with fits and zones.

It's a weird fan take for me, that every pick must be backed up by an EXTREMELY hard take of good or bad, and not both can be good, or both can be bad.

Carter's looked great so far, so maybe he'd be playing well here too? Idk, different circumstances so who knows.

But why can't both picks be good? What's the motivation behind having to pick some weird imaginary side where you can't have this opinion. Spoon's an absolute stud, and it looks like Carter is too. Great isn't it?

Bad comp btw. Sanders hated contact and tackling. Maybe on the savvy, instincts and juice he brought to the defense? Yeah, I'd compare Spoon to that part of Deion's game.

But the violence and physicality? I'd say Pete' still come the closest to comp'ing Witherspoon. A Troy Polamalu in a defensive back's body.

Please remain healthy he's totally in line for DPOY I haven't seen such a performance since Troy, Ed Reed or Dieon or Richard Sherman and he does it all. He's totally a smaller Troy God I hate that he went to the Stealers but he was incredible. I can't be angry if another team wasn't stupid and saw what I did.

Oh I definitely understand and can agree to some extent. There's been a couple of different posters here that said Carter might not have done well here because our defensive line isn't as great as Philly's, and of course he's going to look good there because you can't block everyone at the same time when you have above average players all over that line.

I stand firm in the belief that at the time of the draft, there were just too many red flags with Carter and hindsight will ALWAYS be 20/20.

Yeah I said that when we drafted Witherspoon. My only concern is his size + way he plays = probability of injury goes up.

He seems to know how to leverage his body to give punishment, and not take it. But it's still a concern. Look no further than guys like Adams and Kam that hit like that.

Carter has been so slow off the line. The NFL game is realll fast and he's not up there yet. He'll get better, because even now his strength and power are legitimate and makes up for some of his sluggishness.

I expect both Carter and Witherspoon to both be legitimate pro bowlers.

Just went back and watched his highlights from last night. It's very possible (if not likely) that that's the best overall defensive performance by an NFL corner this year. There was

Carter is being double-teamed and is being credited with freeing up his teammates (in addition to his own pressures). His career is off to a great start. Witherspoon had a game for the ages last night and is going to be a tremendous difference maker for us...but that doesn't take away from the impact Carter is having on his team and their opponents.

Without a word of exaggeration, it was one of the more impressive performances I have seen from a defensive back. Many great, all-time defensive backs chief impact was eliminating/erasing options from the opposing offense (be it Revis eliminating a WR from the game; Sherm taking away a side of the field; and Ed Reed/Earl Thomas eliminating the back 3rd).

But this was an instance of a DB being proactive, dictating, imposing his will and taking the fight to the other team. It's a unique style, and why in retrospect you can understand Pete making the comparison to Polamalu.

Witherspoon can be an excellent outside corner, but man, I like him closer to the action too.
