What sucks is he looks like he could be a hall of fame kicker some day. Those guys often are scoring leaders, so I don't see how this is a good thing?
Just a little interdivision razzing.I'm a little chagrined about the draft. And yes, I realize that by responding to this I fell into your clever trap. Clearly I'm a fool.
Actually agreed. Sometimes I get mad at Myers but overall he’s been a solid kicker for the most part.In all fairness a kicker or punter can be responsible for a couple games a year (easily).
If they had concerns that they would not be able to find a reliable one, taking one in the draft that they trust is a good move.
Very few positions can singled handedly win/lose games for you.
I don't know enough about this kid to defend or blast this move by the Niners but I am of the belief that having a good kicker is of more value now than ever.In all fairness a kicker or punter can be responsible for a couple games a year (easily).

The rule changes to onside kicks, kickoffs, and extra point tries has made the separation between 'good' and 'elite' kickers more impactful to the final score than ever.
Of course, NFL is considering implementing some of the XFL's experimental rule changes which may completely reverse this trend but as of now, I think a lot of teams (and fans) underestimate where Ks truly lie in terms of importance.
Based on how drafted kickers have performed in the past, there's a good chance you're right.Moody is a good kicker, but he's not (and won't be) elite.
