What’s the legal standing if he refuses to sign the Non-Exclusive tag? If the price is suddenly down from two firsts to whatever-they-can-get-for-him, a Kirk Cousins/Deshaun Watson contract (or something approaching one of those) suddenly seems a bit more palatable for an enquiring team, no?

He can’t play for anyone then.

Other teams are able to negotiate with the Ravens for a lower price. Essentially, they'd come to an agreement, Lamar would sign the tag contract and a trade would occur.

It always surprises me that after 7+ years of high school and college, some of these guys sound about as articulate as a four year old trying to argue their case as to why they would make a good pet owner. Can't be easy to negotiate with someone who can't negotiate basic grammar.

Lamar is trying to get one big payday to rule them all. He's the one that's a RB playing QB and knows he can't take the hits he does for much longer. He wants a big guaranteed contract because he knows it's all he's going to get. Teams know it to and that's why nobody is signing him. He's totally tipped his hand.

All kinds of red flags to me. I wouldn't sign this guy. If he's not completely appeased and happy wherever he lands, he'll take his money and go home no doubt.

Lamar doesn't appreciate how missing 10 games the past two season (and playing many others banged up) affects his value.

I don't think he's a bad guy, but he's probably not surrounded by people that are very honest with him about the whole situation.

Baltimore owns his rights with the tag whether he signs or not. If he doesn't sign by a certain date (I don't know the exact date, but you have to get in a specific minimum number of games for it to count towards a season accrued) then he just toils unsigned but under the Ravens control until next off season. The Ravens have the right to trade him for less than a team is required to pay if they were to sign him during the tag period, but they aren't obligated to do so. Lamar's only leverage now is to hold out until he reaches the date that he must sign by. There's really nothing else he can do that I'm currently aware of

Absolutely. Just my opinion. He plays the victim very well. Surprised he doesn't walk around with chalk.
I've said my peace. I think he's a hell of a player. He needs to grow up a little that's all.

In his best season throwing the ball, he only threw for 3127 yards. He's a perfect example of a "glorified running back". He's average at best passer.
