Just saw the alert on my phone.

Mixed emotions.

Pardon my ignorance, do we have a replacement/ better options?

This from last year.

Yup... Officially confused.

I understand that he was old. But we have no starting nose tackle. Would've assumed they'd at least hold onto him until after the draft?

Seems like tearing a gaping hole in the roster for less than $4M of cap savings? Why not just restructure Diggs or Lockett to create cap space?

Just saw this. Gotta admit being surprised. We need a big dude up the middle. Very curious to see what John and Pete have planned.

I think it is a key indicator that their moving to a more dynamic attacking front seven. Less read and react. Possibly more in the way of play call gambling. Hybrid fronts. Less predictable. That sort of thing.

We need a Red Bryant type to go along with our new Bronco guy.

WOW!!! Really surprised by this! I thought he might still be a key piece of the Defensive Line. There must be a free agent deal or trade coming soon.
He has been a key piece of the defensive line and deserves respect. I hope he or Poona will be re-signed if they fit the system.
There is a rumor that Poona can play Fullback and that Derrick Henry can also play Defensive Tackle...:)

Poona Ford, Shelby Harris, Quinton Jefferson, and now Al Woods. Seahawks just purged the DL….from last season.

I'm wondering if they see Mazi Smith as a "must have" in the draft. He's a pure nose tackle ATM, but he's like Jarran Reed in that there's athleticism to hope for pass rush upside.

I like the Mazi Smith possibility. But, they appear to be making changes that are a departure from last year's defense.

With no news regarding re-signing Poona Ford and with Bryan Mone's return from injury questionable, anticipating four disruptive linemen/hybrid line backers supporting cover 7 looks realistic to me.

They have expanded the role and responsibilities of Karl Scott ..... which I interpreted as an earlier indicator of the direction the defense is headed.

I'm also a bit surprised by this. He may have been the best player on our DL last year (excluding edge) and we don't save a lot from his release. We now have a huge need at NT (excuse the pun).

I get that we want to be younger, more dynamic, more athletic, and frankly, newer on the DL, and this fits that mold to a T. But I thought that he was still a good player that was stick around for one more year.

I'm not surprised only because his workload reduced to just 39% of defensive snaps last season at age 35 and it was going to go down again from there. The role is still important but if anything it's probably one year too late to replace him with a younger player.
