I'm hopeful, but it cant really be debated that we lack proven talent on the OL, so I'm not going to rip on someone who is in "wait and see" mode. Itll be awesome if Cross can be this year's Tristian Wirfs or Rashawn Slater.

I've said it before and I'll say it again now: Schneider should have made Garrett Boles a requirement in any trade for Russ. We were the ones with the leverage.

It's completely fair. As Fade pointed out the interior is overrated and you have two rookies on the outside. I do like that they put some capitol into the line though so hopefully it can trend the right way as the year goes on. They have to get it sorted moving forward because finding another Russ who can avoid sacks with the best of them isn't happening again.

From a PC historical standpoint He has had good run blocking olines, however, he has historically had bad pass blocking olines. I suspect that will remain the same.
bad pass blocking oline because of a selfish pony QB who drops back and waits for an eternity to dump it off to the moon, the stands, ignores the middle, scrambles and/or sacked because he never likes what he sees... if he sees anything i.e 10+ yard open radius around his target....I know i wasnt the only one tired of him just playing Hero (Wilson) Ball all the damn time.

We won't be top 15 in pass blocking. Not even close.

Maybe not dead last either but expecting top 15 is probably expecting too much.
Gotta have a decent QB to help that Oline out at as well.. since they both go hand in hand... its not happening this year.

There are limits to leverage. They dwarfed the Stafford trade in compensation received, I don't think they could've squeezed much more out of it.

Things we don't know:

1. Was it Pete's preference for long balls or was it Russ's?

2. Did Russ ignore open receivers for short yardage? Or he was playing it safe as his completion percentage in the short middle is lower than his long balls?o

3. For coming season, could Geno or Lock has that quick release to get the ball out real fast?

OL can only hold so long, and only work when they sort of knew where the QB is going to be.

...and it would be considerably worse if Wilson had stayed. Cross was 1st round pick from Denver. Cap space would have required cheaper options inside too.

really would it have been let's see? We had 3 sacks against mostly backups which equates out to 51 for a season. Wilson only had 50+ sacks once in 10 years. Now your argument of Cap, not really as Wilson has redone his deal several times to provide money for signing people and He and Wagner did so again this past year but were told no, and of course, we now know why. That aside we will see how the oline looks when they play against ta team playing all its starters in a game that matters. Till then we don't know.

That makes sense.... It's completely reasonable to extrapolate pre-season game #1, rookies first game ever in the NFL, across an entire season.

...not worth any more time or attention...

I sincerely hope you find a way to enjoy the season.

You JUST claimed in another thread that preseason week 1 isn't reliable to extrapolate data from, yet do the same thing here.

Please stop poisoning this discourse with your extremely unreliable standards.

No worries, John shall enjoy himself by belittling Hawks over any little error or miscues that our rookies and youngsters will unavoidably make. He is really good at entertaining himself that way.

I thought he was happy with all his new Denver friends. I wonder why he's back slumming with us?

I guess it's not the same, punishing the 12s is more fun as he is well established on dot net, he has achieved celebrity status here, with his new Denver friends, he is still an unknown?

Actually, I find entertainment value in it also. It's hard not to laugh at it.
