My question is how long does it normally take for an NFL defence to really adapt to the 3-4 so that these can shine.

Concerning the names above, this is the year I was hoping to see Taylor show why they picked him so high!

I was pretty pumped about the DTs they brought in last year, but every body got ran over. Here is to hoping for this year though!

I wasn’t. Hyder got trucked I agree but Harris and Jefferson and Ford are all great against the run. Next time think before posting buddy

The Hawks ranked in the bottom half of the NFL at stopping the run. So to think before I post...They were ran over more than the average team was last year.

Don't forget about Al Woods. The grown man who does the bulk of the heavy lifting in the run game and will be anchoring the middle of the trenches in said front 7. I am ecstatic to watch this group evolve.

Actually, no they weren't. Sure, they gave up more yards total, but they were run on over 500 times, tied for 5th in the league.

Their YPC average was tied for 2d in the league at 3.8

Barton, Brooks, Nwosu, Taylor, Mafe, Jefferson, Harris, Mone, Ford, Robinson....

This is gonna be fun to watch
You left out Woods...NT rotation of Ford, Woods, Mone might be solid. Especially if they can hold up the middle and allow DE's and OLBs to provide pass rush. I'd still like to see better interior pressure because the past couple of seasons, QBs were able to step up in the pockets and make plays.

i think we saw some solid samples from taylor last year to see why he was picked so high.

Woods is a freak what was I thinking leaving his ass off the list. The man can take a dump according to the equipment manager

I'm concerned about this D line getting gashed for big runs up the gut, especially late in games.

I'm optimistic that they will at least be able to stop the running back screen, which absolutely killed our defense last year. Hopefully with a competent defensive coaching staff that will change now.

Well, we averaged allowing 3.8 ypc last season and the same 3 base DTs are back, with 2 speedy LBs behind them in Barton and Brooks, one of whom was top 5 in tackles last year IIRC. We should be OK up the gut.

We should be ok up the gut ?

Our guts will be stretched out all the way to the end zone.

I'm not sure why you think this. It just seems like a very random opinion to hold strongly, especially with them coming off of a year of strong run defense running similar concepts. The bear front is fully within Clint's 3-4 hybrid wheelhouse. It's not weak up the middle.

Dude, seriously read up on the 3-4 then go look at teams that lead the league in run defense.
