I see him right now as a pass rush specialist. Can he develop? Absolutely. Does he has the size and atheletic ability to be a 3 down DE. Yes. One on One on the edge or inside against a guard he is a terror when he can pin his ears back and rush.
However, when tasked to stop the run, far to often is he pushed out of the play. He tends to play too high. At 6'8" he has good bend and can play with leverage when rushing the passer. He struggles with that bend when asked to anchor and stop the run.
IMO that is caused by one of two things. One, the lack of football knowledge causes him to play slow, and play high. Two, and most concerning it could be lack of effort. He has a tremendous motor when rushing however, i struggle to see the same effort when the play goes away, or the ball is run.
Good point, I absolutely agree he has leverage problems, and I think he does lack football knowledge, if he grew up playing rugby then I can see where he gets the slow down and watch the play develop from behind approach because in rugby it is all about staying in your lanes and staying home so this could be entrained in his mind and needs to be cleaned up. You know the more I think of that and watch again he does look like he is lining up to Ruck, although if that was the case I would expect him to be much more aggressive through the wistle. If he is nearly an Olympic Athelete I dont see him having a effort problem. Good point can't deside. Only 3 years experience in American Football wow long ways in a short time.
When you say pushed out of plays in the run do you equate that to over pursuit?
I do like his hands and use of them it seems to me he gets his hands extended often and keeps the blocker off of his body and he disengauges quickly, he also has counter moves when his speed rush doesn't work. Spin is OK, Swim is strong inside, long ass arms.
Footwork leaves alot to be desired as mentioned earlier, but I don't see him off balance or bending strange when blocked so does that mean he has bad feet or are they just slow. Did not notice the lack of leg size.
