I quickly figured out that Pete Carroll was the defensive minded reincarnation of Bill Walsh (Carroll had worked with Walsh in the past and wrote about Walsh's influence on him in his book). What I didn't realize is that both were hit by the same face flattening shovel. That's pretty neat.
