There is one word in football lexicon that is not part of Mike McCarthy's vocabulary. You'll never hear him use it in association with the Green Bay Packers team he coaches. He bristles at its very mention.

Underdog.

When applied to the Packers, as it is for the NFC Championship Game — the Seattle Seahawks are favored by 7 1/2 points Sunday — it implies something McCarthy can never, will never accept: that his team is somehow inferior to the opponent.

"One hundred percent, he hates the underdog label," said Larry McCarren, the former Packers center turned radio analyst and probably as close to McCarthy as any member of the media. "I think he's relishing the opportunity to go back to Seattle.

"In his heart of hearts he thinks he has the better team and they're going to go out there and whip them."

Go Hawks! Kick their asses tomorrow.

If we can have a 4qtr game, I'll be happy. Keep it exciting.

I already know the outcome, just not the final score.

A nice sentiment. But his heart of heart of hearts knows that his team is not favored for a reason. Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilson and the entire defense loom.
