When a guy scores over a third of your points why wouldn't you pay him decent money?
CANHawk":1b51gam6 said:Only is the price is right will it be Haush. I think $3m is too much for a kicker. If he'll take $1, 1.5-ish like Ryan I bet they'd keep him, but for more than that I'd just rather roll over the cap space to make room for the big boys. Haush has been <$1m up until now and that's by design me thinks. I don't see kickers being a big dollar priority for this FO.
......that said, I just looked at available FA kickers, and the list ain't pretty. It's like no country for old men. So unless there's a phenom in the rough coming out of college the FO has it's eye on, maybe they DO pay Haush.

He was 3/3 from beyond 50 last year.
Good point. But he only attempted three for a reason. Dawson had twice as many attempts of 50+ yards. That classic moment in the NFC Championship Game was made possible in part because Haushka told Carroll he was not comfortable attempting the 53 yarder.
For his career, Hauschka has only made about half of his attempts from that distance.

Wrongo buddy! He's worth every bit of 3 million per which is about tag money. I would love to see him signed for 5 years/15 million. Next year, and the years after, 3 million per for that kind of kicker will be a BARGAIN!

#2. Steven Hauschuka
2013 Grade: +40.2
When Hauschuka entered the league in 2008, he was used as a kickoff specialist, while his ability on kickoffs have never been in doubt. The last 2 seasons Hauschuka with the help of the excellent Seahawks special teams unit, he has allowed an average drive start below 21 yards each year.
When Hauschuka became the only kicker on the Baltimore Ravens in 2009, he struggled on field goals. In the 11 games before he got cut he had a 69.2% on FGs, however he managed to turn around his weakness to the third highest FG % in the league last season. Outside of 2013 Hauschuak, has struggled on 50+ FGs, only connecting on 40%. When he is inside of 40 yards though, Hauschuka is almost automatic, he has only missed 4 on his 65 attempts between 0-39 yards.

Steven Hauschka went 33-of-35 in 2013. He was just 4-of-10 from 50-plus prior to this past season, but he was a perfect 3-of-3 from that distance last year.

Dude, you talking about a kicker. $3m... Per YEAR...? To kick the ball and nothing else? Dude, it's a kicker. There's a bunch of guys hanging out in front of Home Depot that can kick a ball for a helluva lot less than $3m bucks a year. Heck, there's probably a Gramatica kicking around somewhere we could use.
SMH... If we need to consistently rely on a kicker to win games we have problems...

Agreed. We've just finally got an elite kicker...why the hell would we lose that.
