It appears the offense is doing well. They are protecting the ball with a balanced attack and Geno is managing the pocket and avoiding sacks. The only thing holding them back is penalties and sucking on 3rd down, which may have some correlation.

The Defense had a great game against the Giants, and they are stopping the run and forcing TOs. They're getting killed on 3rd down and this, combined with too many coverage errors, is letting opposing QBs (except for poor D Jones!) have their way.

I think the whole make-or-break question for this season will be answered by how well they can improve 3rd downs on both sides of the ball.

There is no reason the Offense should be at 29%(#31) and the defense at 52%(#30).

Get this cleaned up and I can see a playoff win or two. Or more?

Pete and Geno have both recently mentioned the need to improve on third downs. They’re aware of it — now they need to fix it.

I think a lot of it has to do with continuity on the O line. As soon as they fix that issue 3rd down conversion won't be an issue.

Yep get the tackles back. That will be huge. That said the experience our depth is getting while winning is a win win too. I loved #75 not taking any shit from Dexter Lawrence!

There are several things that will affect the 3rd down conversion rate, incuding shit like penalties and plays that lose yards or in any way leave the team in 3rd and long yards.

On D it's a little different and more involves execution on long yardage plays. Can't get too soft on those.

The Giants are bad, whatever they've been trying to do isn't working, they suck. But, while this absolutely was a notice to the NFL about what the we're building post team 3, this was a validation and potential turning point in huge fashion for Clint Hurtt.

The bye is absolutely perfect, let's see. Let's get some anti-depressants and stop being downers and see.

Our time of procession still not good.
Pete grinds clock and at his roots plays keep away. In the modern league his philosophy translates even more than it used to as an opportune “bend don’t break” defense. Pete is betting all your throwing statically begs a game altering turnover or five. All the sudden it’s the 4th and while it’s close, it’s not, you burn clock, we burn clock, thanks for the help. You’re not scoring because you’ve showed your hand. And then we hit an explosive.
