Too bad the Hawks are still sold on PC.
If he still wants to coach...I wonder what Payton could do with Russ.

Yeah I know. He has a house there and past connections with the organization.

He's under contract with NOLA 3 more years.

Yeah - so wherever he goes I'm guessing there some sort of trade / compensation for NO that would need to be
worked out.

Going to Dallas would require a trade. Saints won't let him walk.

He should have had another ring or at least another SB appearance, had the league not wanted so badly for their LA Darlings to be in the big game.

That might be the worst coaching job open right now. They could let all their FAs walk and still might not be under the cap. That team was run into the ground and he just bailed on them.

Gee, wonder why Sean wants to step away from the game for a couple years.

I became a Payton fan when he wore that Roger Goodell "clown" tee shirt underneath his button-down shirt during a press conference. The top of the tee was exposed just enough for the keen observer to notice. This was of course shortly after the league screwed the Saints to ensure that the LA Darlings got into the Super Bowl.

This!!

Totally in on signing him as our next OC, and he should accept a discount to take our OC job, just for the opportunity to work with a sure fire first ballot HOF quarterback at his prime.

Win win for all parties, Russ gets his OC, Pete gets to keep his job longer, and Payton gets to coach Russ for more rings.

Yeah the Saints were in full win now mode the last couple years before Brees retired.

So they literally didn't care about the cap keeping all their stars. Kamara, Thomas, Jordan, Armstead, Peat, Ramczyk, Hill, you name the front line starter, they handed them max contracts.

Please help to refresh my aging memory, how many super bowls has this offense genius won with a sure fire first ballot hall of fame quarterback?

He won one in their heyday with a much less talented team than Carroll in his.

Carroll drafted poorly our team had no talent, everyone on dot net knew that. As for Sean, one ring? He wasted a HOF QB's legacy, instead of offense genius, more like a genius wannabe.
