To clarify, I was talking about our recent average across the 49er-Giants-Cards that was much discussed earlier; where I felt that we were pushing the risk aversion to a silly extreme. I thought our punting the first half of the season was pretty good, albeit not as good as yesterday. Looking at only the downside of a booming punt is silly; the upside is that our struggling offense gets better field position which significantly increases their chance of getting into field goal range.
