The Steelers are in dire need of help at the position considering Xavier Grimble’s struggles, Zach Gentry’s youth, and Vance McDonald’s shoulder injury that appears to keep him out of at least this week’s contest against Cincinnati.

Vannett, listed at 6’6 261, has caught four passes for 38 yards this season. He had one catch for 13 yards against Pittsburgh in Week 2. Last year, he caught 29 balls for 269 yards and three touchdowns.

His one catch against the Steelers was a big one, a 13 yard pickup on 3rd and 10 that led to a Will Dissly TD the very next play.

A fourth-year player in the final season of his rookie deal, Vannett has caught four passes on five targets for 38 yards in three games this season. He led all Seahawks tight ends in receiving yards and receptions last season, but with the return of Will Dissly from injury, Vannett became expendable in the Emerald City.
