This is a nice move.

They are both backup, rental players at this point. You flip one for a 5th round pick, and bring back the old one, who probably is a slight upgrade. I will have to see Luke on the field first to confirm this, but it is likely. Vannett couldn't block at all, and had spotty hands.

Luke could block a scoche, and catch the ball when inside his frame. Outside of it, not so good. And had/maybe still has speed.

Always loved Luke. It will be nice to hear him on the sports radio channels again. He's quite a character. I'll never forget Wilson throwing the ball and waiting....and waiting for it to drop into Luke's hands for the 2 point conversion.

You'll need to explain this one to me. He was a solid player here was a fine blocker and was a serious red zone threat unlike Vannett. He had the game winner in Carolina in 2013 that year we won the Super Bowl.

When I think of Vannett, I think of a guy getting blown up on blocks over and over again. Good dude, average at best player who was a bubble guy at the end of the year regardless.

I think you're mis reading my post.

I said I'd give the 5th rounder back, I didn't say I'd take Vannett back. Don't like either of them.


The comment was tongue in cheek. It's a good move overall, I just don't like Luke Willson as a player at all. Sideways move at TE, but we get a 5th out of it.
