Against Tennessee’s practice squad. Stinky went 6-13, 136 yards, 2 Int on throws of more than 5 air yards. Ouch

Those picks were crippling. 14 point swing, IMO. Niners outplayed the Titans on the road and likely win without just one of those 2 picks.

To me the actual take-away is that Niners are a serious threat to any team they play in the playoffs, IF Shanahan can fix the Jimmy G critical moment pick problem. Good pass rush, strong running game, several excellent receivers. Niners were in position to win against a very strong opponent on the road. That brand of football translates to playoff wins, EXCEPT the turnovers turn a W into an L.

Yeah. I've said from day one earlier even during their losing streak that their defensive front is still very elite. Jimmy holds them back from being a true contender.

@VishKumaran
"The most frustrating thing about this game is that it feels like we’ve seen this same exact niners loss like 5 times this season."

Truth. Once the playoffs start, it's a new season. JimmyG has actually looked really good in a lot of the Niners games this season. Then he craps the bed, or a RB fumbles at the wrong moment. or...

Not writing off the 49ers in the playoffs because in the past, several unlikely teams have squeaked into the playoffs and suddenly straightened up and won multiple road playoff games. This years Niners have that kind of vibe to them. QB position is a Jekyll-Hyde issue though.

So….

49ers have some deficiencies that IMO preclude them from making a decent run.

1) CB. The pass rush is really masking this issue. Titans just went max protect and the CBs couldn’t cover 1-2 men in the pattern. Injuries have really hit them there playing in effect their #3 and #4 corners. Norman is a joke and Ambry Thomas isn’t ready. This isn’t an excuse BTW as every NFL team has injuries and perhaps it wasn’t a good idea to bank on the perpetually injured Jason Verrett to stay healthy all year.

2) Right side of the O-Line. They are actually really good in the run game, but they got big issues in pass protection.

Here’s the thing tho…

They can usually overcome the two issues above with just decent QB play. Your comment you made about eliminating the critical moment pick? That’s Jimmy’s MO. It won’t change. It’s what he does. He has one or two WTF moments in every game even when he’s playing well.

When he threw the first pick last night he’d been 8-8 passing.

Jimmy is a better QB than he gets credit for, but his critical weakness is making those few mistakes a game that can kill you. It’s a big reason they went up for Lance and why most likely Jimmy won’t be back next year.

Basically, yes the 49ers had issues on D in the second half last night, but none of it would have mattered if Jimmy doesn’t throw a pick in the end zone, miss a wide open Juice, or throw a pick on his first pass of the second half.

Jimmy is actually vastly overrated by 49er fans but the actual media nation wide knows he's a limited quarterback. The 49ers want to trade Jimmy the problem is nobody is knocking down their door begging for his services. He's top 5 in actual cap hit league wide and has well below average arm talent. He has zero trade value unless the 49ers agree to pay all of his salary in which case they might as well keep him lol

It is what it is Jimmy G just isn't a good quarterback. SF would be deadly even with an average armed guy behind center.

Lost by 3 on the road on a short week. Remind me again what the score was when the Hawks played the Titans at HOME?

We lost in OT to a Titan team at full strength with the O line and Henry in. Take a seat :rumble:

I was about to say the OP should worry about his own team but then remembered they just got eliminated at home by a terrible Bears team. Enjoy the off season.

Against Chicago's practice squad looks like Hawks shit the bed again at home. Lead all game only to choke in the end.

I think you gents fail to realize that nobody hates the Seahawks more than Seahawks fans.

This dunking does not make the Niners championship drought any less disappointing.

Thank you for the perspective! I totally get now about the good pass rush covering up the bad CBs. So I should only bet $1K on the 49ers for the Lombardi, and not the whole bankroll? Shanny had JimmyG have previously been to the Owl as a pair, so who knows...

JimmyG would have to get his head right, use the force, etc. When he gets in rhythm, and the running game is working, it seems the 49ers offense marches down the field and scores early and often. That Titans pick in the end zone... it's like he fixated on a receiver instead of reading the D to decide where to go with the ball. Russell Wilson sometimes has that same issue in the red zone.

If nothing else, JimmyG is playing for his NFL life and future, if not with the 49ers, with some other team. Motivation shouldn't be a problem for him.

I see you're still irrationally jealous and mad.

You should see a therapist, because next year is shaping up to be a absolute disaster for the Seahawks.
