I hope you don't see this happening too often during the regular season....? :180670:

Having another veteran pair of eyes who can help diagnose what's going on/game plan (from a guy who has actually played the position) I believe can have big dividends -- i.e. the way that Trent Dilfer helped Matt Hasselbeck. If Quinn never sees the field at all ... and that's all he's ever really paid for ... I believe that it could be money very well spent.
Good point that I hadn't thought of specifically. It's a challenge even finding ways for Russell to improve on his landmark rookie season, so adding that element to his support system could be important. I'm not really sure I buy the perception that Flynn was a sore loser like some are intimating, but human nature being what it is, it ISN'T hard to believe that he didn't put his all into supporting the guy that stole his job. I can definitely understand feeling that way. A cooperative dynamic in the QB room could only be a good thing, kind of like how successful PC&JS have been due to their close and synergistic relationship.

If nothing else, it's nice to see the insider dope on Quinn being reinforced from multiple sources.

Just my very lame (swing and miss) attempt at humor ;). I better not jinx anything (fingers crossed) or I'll be ready to flagellate myself profusely if Russell ends up missing any time.

Well, on Flynn and what the dynamics were like last year between the 2 QB's, I would highly encourage you to listen to the first 10-15 minutes of today's Go 2 Guy Show over on 710 ESPN. That was exactly the topic of conversation to start the show. Dave Wyman -- even the ever positive/PC Warren Moon basically admitted to that ...

So what does everyone think of what Jim said about Russell's next steps this season? I'm looking forward to seeing him assume more responsibility for calling audibles and how that changes\improves how well he's protected. I'm looking forward to him not having to run for his life on every play. That's somewhat of an exaggeration, but it really felt like the line wasn't doing their job so well at times. Having a whole year under their belt cohesion-wise (between the Oline itself and between them and Russell) will be nice to see and I look forward to the improvement that will provide our passing game. I still think the pass-to-run ratio will slant towards more passing, especially when playing high octane offenses like New England and Green Bay. We'll see.

I also wonder what y'all think about what Jim said about Brady Quinn. Being the positive guy Jim is, it wasn't surprising to see him talk up Quinn's strengths (would've been shocked to hear him "throw him under the bus" or anything like that obviously). I wonder if Pete and his staff will be able to minimize the risks that derive from his accuracy issues. That being such an obsession of Pete's (turnovers) I'm starting to think that Pete and his coaches saw there was at least a chance they could work on that or else work around that limitation.
Another thought I had about the Quinn acquisition. I was expecting them to pick up Thigpen or Seneca Wallace to have someone to more closely mirror RWs skillset, but maybe there's some value to having a backup come in who's changes the flavor of the offense and ends up catching the other team off guard (like what happened to us last year in the Arizona season opener)? I was curious what others thought about Jim's take on all that. Is it putting lipstick on a pig or do you think there's something to what he said?
There isn't a Quarterback in the League that can mirror what Russell Wilson does.
That's not to say that RGIII, or even Kaepernick, doesn't present some of the same aspects of play as Wilson, but I don't think that they've devoted anywhere near as much study or preparation in honing their skills to be able to keep up with what he brings to his game, Wilson is more of a student of the game, and because of the seed his dad had planted in him, that took root, all those many years ago.
What I'm aiming at here, is that IF you were to set out looking for someone that could run the system, as well as Russell does, I think you'd be wasting your time, as I don't know that there is anyone out there that's had the ability, let alone the desire to put the work into studying not ONLY what he can do, but what defenders might do in attempts to thwart a particular scheme he might be utilizing.
Wilson has had to overcome the prejudice for Quarterbacks that are categorized too short to succeed in the NFL, despite having guys like Breese who have proven otherwise.
Each and every Quarterback have their strong points, things that they do well, and some that are lacking, and I believe the Seahawks have surmised that if there isn't anyone available out there that has as many attributes as Wilson, so, the next best thing to do, is to find someone that has flexibility and athleticism enough to shift into position to not have a big drop off, and according to Zorn, Brady Quinn is just the guy you'd want, because he's willing to put in the work and NOT piss and moan about being a back up.
