I definitely expect a closer game this time around. I still say we win by 10, though.
Our Defense:
I see Manning challning Burley a lot. Sanders is one fast mofo and possibly a good matchup for Denver to exploit. Of course, Burley does have two weeks to get further in the system and condition himself, but we shall see what happens. I also expect to see Manning attempt a couple of deeper throws in the first half. His arm may not be the strongest, but his placement is as close to perfect as you could ask for. Fortunately for us, we have the DB's who can stretch out and stop those completions. It's also been reported all preseason long that Denver wants to run the ball more. I expect to see that against our defense, seeing as our strong suit really is against the passing game. Lastly, I have an inkling that Denver will, for some reason, try to stick with screen plays throughout the game. Doubt it will work though.
Offense:
Here's where I think we will really shine. Harvin is going to be used throughout, but I have a felling he won't actually get the ball on many of the sweep plays. I see him being more involved in the pass game (TE post routes, anyone?), but I also see Denver looking to hunt the guy down. But by keeping Denver focused on him, Lynch is going to have a good game. I actually think we may be game planning with our first two games to get them thinking we'll be spreading the field horizontally all day long against them, but we'll actually be throwing in a number of deeper plays to keep them honest and balanced. Again, this opens up Lynch. Of course, why not try out the horizontal game to see how effective it is.
Jeez... having Harvin really opens up our offense. You really just can't prepare for anything we can do.
