After years we finally cut the cord and cancelled Direct TV. We stream the big 3 and bought a antenna for full HD channels.
I was paying for a directtv package and HD receiver to maybe watch 3-5 channels and get Sunday Ticket. Considering the Seahawks are usually on national TV in Utah about 6 times a year, plus amazon now streaming Thursday games, it was a lot of money to watch 6-8 a year.

It was a hard choice, I freaking love Sunday Ticket and would would buy it as a standalone in a New York minute if I could. I have heard rumors that there are some other options available for us cord cutters, but I'm not really tech savvy. I was wondering if anyone could PM me their strategy for maximizing their Seahawks viewing opportunity. I know there are some sketchy sites that are phishing havens with porn pop ups and such. I'm looking for a relatively safe, family friendly option. If you know of anything, please PM me.

I'm about to do it also. I'll just go to a sports bar when they aren't carried nationally. Direct tv is crazy expensive.

P.S. I used to sell the mobile NFL part of Sunday ticket to my friend for 100 per year so he could watch all the games too.

Move to Canada for DAZN (or use a VPN).

DAZN is like Netflix for live sports and is coming to Canada this year and bringing NFL Sunday Ticket and Redzone. The cost is only $20 per month, so $80 bucks or so for the NFL season.

I live in New Zealand so have always had to scrape the dark underbelly of the interwebs for live Seahawks feeds. At the same time I was paying through the nose for satellite TV.

Like you guys, I cut the cord and went with the freeview channels. However, the wife and I agreed that because of the amount we were saving on our total TV entertainment spend, I could afford NFL game pass. It's expensive (way too expensive), but I have to look at the net savings over what I had before.

So we subscribe to GamePass and NetFlix, and fill in other shows from the dark underbelly of the interwebs served up by Plex, and it's all spewed out in 1080p to my projection system. I couldn't be happier with my entertainment options.

If you can wait a hour or so after the live games are over NFL Game Pass is a great value.

No commercials, the entire game broadcast and you can go back several years and watch any game for any team all the way thru the SB every year, plus more.

I get it every year and it's money well spent IMO.

GO HAWKS!!!

Amazon is streaming Thursday games? We have gotten rid of sports and locals so I do need to know about this since I have Amazon Prime.

What I have been doing is splitting Sunday Ticket w/ someone who watches on their TV. I then use the streaming app to watch my games (as well as any others). We just split the cost.

I would DEFINATELY recommend NFL GamePASS

https://gamepass.nfl.com/packages?campa ... bi-2000002

This is a service offered by the NFL, it has come a LONG ways in the last 5 years. What it does is allows you to stream the game upon conclusion. Several years ago, the earliest you get get the games was midnight Eastern time which meant if I wanted to watch a game I'd have to stay up to 10pm Mountain time.

2 years ago, that was brought down to 6pm Mountain/ 8 PM eastern. Last year they finally did it. Once the game has finished within 15 minutes the game is available to stream. So assuming you can ignore social media when the game is on this is a terrific subscription.

I hate watching games live anymore because it's 3 hours down the drain. This way you can watch the game in half the time. It gives you full broadcast as well as the "Condensed" games which cut the games down to 30 mins or less.

I believe packages are $99 dollars/year (from AUG17-JUL18) and it gives you ALL the games for the last few years. They used to have a "team specific package, I'm not sure that's still available but that was like $30 a year.

Then all you need to do is connect your laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable, or find the proper NFL APP on your TV or Roku box.. There are some settings you can setup that won't reveal the score of the game. Otherwise you'll have it spoiled.

I've had NFL Game Pass for a few years and enjoy the service for what it is. (no live viewing of regular season games). If you don't mind waiting to watch the games in replay, it might meet your needs.

**If I remember correctly preseason games were live and you could also get radio live for regular season games. (someone correct me if this isn't right).

**One caution - they are currently going through a redesign and the service hasn't been consistent recently. I would recommend you wait a little bit while they workout the kinks. You can then sign up for the 7 day trial before you pay for a full subscription.

**Another note is that the games haven't always been available right after the game end especially if it's any early game. They state all Sunday day games should be available by 8pm EST and Sunday night, MNF & TNF shortly after those games have concluded.

There is another option for live games. - Last year I also had Sunday Ticket through DirecTV - I am not DirecTV subscriber. It is a live game (out of market) streaming service. There are some restrictions on who is eligible (live in apartment/condo/dorm or an area that can't get directTV in their area) but I'm not sure how firm those are, I live in a house but my neighbor has DirectTV and I still qualified. You can put your address and find out

https://nflst.directv.com

My package was $200 but there are others.

I probably won't do both this year, last year I found the Sunday Ticket option after I already renewed Game Pass.

Hope this helps.

They might have increased it, or maybe they just charge more depending on the location, but right now, if I wanted to sign up (I'm eligible, although I've had DirectTV at this location before, so I know I can get it here) the cost quoted is $279.96 ($69.99 per month for 4 months). They have another package which is about $100 more expensive, but nothing cheaper. Since I mostly just watch Seahawks football and the local channels show them pretty much every week, It's not something I'd want to shell out the money for myself, but if I didn't get games consistently, it would be cheaper than going to a bar every week, that's for sure.

I have a very new 65" Sharp SmartTV and was wondering if Game Pass will play on it. I do have Netflix/Amazon/Youtube and VUDU. Do I have to get a special APP on my TV to play Game Pass?

This article is a few years old, but it talks about the ways to stream gamepass. I'd assume you would want to search your tv's apps and if you find it, that would be the simplest solution.

Look into PlayStation view it's a awesome streaming and live tv service I cut the cord about a year ago.. I pay 40$ a month for 100+ channels plus a few locals .. NFL network , redzone and ticket is all available thru that service .. I don't think you even need a PlayStation 4 for it either ..

You might be right. I just re-read my renewal email and it says ' to show our appreciation we are keeping your price the same as it was last year'. My price was $199.96 ($49.99x4) and did not include redzone.

Since I live in Atlanta I'm only guaranteed Primetime Seahawk games. If the Falcons play at the same time on the same network I won't get the Hawk's game. This seemed to happen often last year as the Falcons had more 4pm games than usual. Doesn't seem as bad this year.

I had DirectTV in the past and got Sunday Ticket Streaming last year. Same address as when I had directtv, so I don't think they check at all.

I used the address check thing to see if I could get it and I couldn't. No idea what their criteria are.

Lol you're kidding, right ? Going to the sports bar is the most expensive way to watch a game. Trust me, I love to do it, but I'm not capable of watching an entire football game and not drinking beer, especially in a sports bar with a lot of other fans around. I'm sure people can nurse them a lot better than I can, but the average domestic light beer price is around $4 per beer in a bar. I go through a minimum of 5 of those in 4 hours. So that's $20, plus $15 for food, add another $5 if you're being a cheap tipper. $40/week. So Direct TV is $160 a month ? If it's that much, I'd bail too. It's been a few years since I had it, but I remember paying around $75 for the channels I wanted and I usually got Sunday Ticket for free if I threatened to cancel, or you could get it for $200 if you got the early bird special.

This year I'm going to try NFLHD. It's a streaming service by the NFL and it costs $45 for a year. I haven't looked into it, but if it's a subscription based internet service, I'd imagine you can watch the games whenever you want and rewatch old ones.

I just get my laptop, login, hook up my HDMI cable from the computer to the TV, and Bam ! it's right there. I'm sure there's ways to blue tooth it from your phone or tablet but I'm somewhat old school and I prefer to plug things into other things. It's also possible I'm just too lazy to keep up with all the new stuff.
