Tough to get a 3 and out when you're getting flagged for penalties. Opposing offenses have been targeting our rookies and the rookies have been getting called for DPI/holding. This is to be expected but it is still hard to watch.

I would say that is not all that matters this early in the season. Getting gashed up amd down the field will wear down players over the course of a season and probably gives a higher chance of injury. Heck the only reason they aren't worse than #14 is because Denver made some stupid decisions and fumbled the ball on the goal line twice. SF probably could have played without a qb at all and still get a blowout

The Jets' defense is worse.

This isn't even the worst defense we've seen over the past five years. The front half of the last three seasons were bad to really bad. Two of those three seasons there was a healthy, awesome QB who had a decent chance to still pull it out in the end.

Patterson 17 carries 8.3 YPC for 141 yards. This defense is horrible. Who cares about Geno vs Lock it's not going to matter.

I think by mid season they are going to settle down. Bryant and Woolen have a bright future. Mafe had his moments as well in today's game against the Falcons. But the veterans on defense need to wrap up.
