Curious why he fell to us as an udfa and wasn't drafted by a team even in the 7th?? Elite athleticism and speed, accurate, threw few int's, makes all the throws, all time passing and td leader in the Mountain West. Better prospect than Rattler or Milton. Is it just because of the conference he played in? Not sure what I'm missing.
He's basically Alex McGough with a little more speed and a little less arm. That's my comp, anyway.
I don't think he's better than Rattler or Milton. Milton is bigger, faster, and has more arm with similar issues (his game doesn't flow like a professionals).
Rattler obviously less talented physically but he does actual pro stuff in the pocket and hits tight windows, timing throws, and the intermediate middle with poise. That's hard to do and hard to coach from the ground up.
Chevan is going to be a fun preseason quarterback, but I don't see a pro starter. He doesn't have that pocket poise, he doesn't operate at a high level as a processor, and he doesn't have enough arm talent to overcome that to be a draftable prospect. I could see a practice squad stash turning into an eventual backup job for him.
Quarterbacks with his kind of skillset tend to not work out. You'd look for guys who do his sort of game better than he does against better competition, such as say DTR or Jordan Travis. Even those guys don't go high.
