Most betting money in vegas and offshore books is being put on the Patriots. In the last 3 years, whoever the "public" has been on, has lost. Last year the Broncos were a heavy public favorite....and lost. Two years ago, the general public was on the 49ers over the Ravens....49ers lost :D And 3 years ago the Patriots were a heavy public favorite over the Giants....and Eli knocked off Brady.

Keep betting on the Patriots 8)

Right now one public bet percentage site has 77% of bets coming in on NE.

Vegas always wins.

Perfect. I can stop being anxious now. This seals it. This guarantees that the refs will favor us. Nothing personal, just business. But fun for us.

Not really surprising. I would have bet the numbers would be a lot closer, if not in Seattle's favor, before the NFCCG. That game did a lot to make more casual fans question how good Seattle really is while New England was putting up 40+ on the Colts.

This is very true. Before the championshp games on Sunday, sportsbooks had future lines on all the possible matchups. I think Seattle was favored by 2.5 over NE. Of course with how poorly we played and how good NE looked, it's now a Pick'Em at most sportsbooks.

I really do think that playing a bad game will help us in the SB, at least from a mentality standpoint. We would have been the favorite according to most media outlets....now no one is giving us a chance.

It's just really amazing how so much one game can change. All of a sudden people think Russell Wilson isn't good and that NE is unstoppable.

Never look too much into one game. Pats should know that, as most everyone wrote them off after they got their tail kicked on MNF against the Chiefs. Funny how losses to KC turned around both us and NE.

We struggled to get off the ground (and won) vs Green Bay (who New England lost to earlier in the season) and New England destroyed Indianapolis.

The public is all about the shallow eye test. Vegas works a little bit deeper than that. They have guys on this inside that see practice, talk to team doctors and even spy team locker rooms. Vegas and sportsbetting are HUGE money and there is a reason they are almost always right. Outside of fluke plays and uncontrollable elements and "acts of god" they know who the best team is. Now the variables may come into play but if this game was to be played in an abandoned warehouse somewhere away from cameras, fans and lights, they believe the Seahawks would win.

Its nothing to be upset about if youre a Patriots fan, its just mathematics and its a fool proof formula for building swaths of immense wealth. After all, its allllll about the money (business) and has nothing to with fandom, homerism or your feelings.

When dealing with money you deal with facts and analysis and the analysis is there.

Strength of schedule, the all 22s, DVOA and the most indepth analysis possible is the only way for them to protect their asses.

Yeah could you imagine if the games were played in reverse and the Pats destroyed the Colts and then squeaked by the Ravens while we come back to beat GB and then beat up on the Panthers?

I would guess this phenomenon has to do with most NFL fans watching OFFENSE only and QBs/passing games specifically when, in reality, dual threat teams with great defenses win championships.

I love the underdog label for this team. Definitely still like the recognition of defending champs, but there is something about being the underdog for this team that makes them play like a hungry pack of wolves (pun intended). Let the media and NFL fans doubt all they want, bring it. Because it just makes our guys foam at the mouth.

Yep, they need to blow that pic up to massive poster size and hang it up at the VMAC, right next the our SB Champion banner...

This is JUST the kind of thing that fires up our boys!

This is not even remotely surprising. The country saw this team pull a victory out their back side while the Pats won by 38. Public bettors/gamblers are generally stupid (hence why Vegas has lavish resorts and casinos galore) .. so they will side with the Patriots.. especially with the game being a pick em

The polling response reminds me of SB XXV. Buffalo crushes the Raiders 51-3 in the AFC Championship game, while the Vagiants beat the Horny-Whiners a mere 15-13, squeaking out a victory without scoring a touchdown.

Buffalo entered the game a 7-point favorite, but public opinion expected an absolute shellaquing of the Vagiants.

We all saw how that one ended.

Funny how last year's map includes a lot of vexed Pats fans after their loss in the previous game.

A thing of beauty.

At this rate, the country will actually favor us by the time we 4-Pete. :snack:
No they won't. The public/casual football fan only sees offense.
(and yes I know you were being sarcastic while I am not)
