So if they re sign him what will you say?
Nothin, but I would be disappointed. He isn't a down hill type LB. To much chase and tackle, instead of shooting gaps and stuffing the run. He is also a liability in coverage. We need more aggressive LB like Wagz, but that also have plus coverage skills for MM defense. Brooks is nothing similar to Queen & Smith.
But with lack of cap space and draft capital I could see Brooks back next season, I just wouldn't overpay?

Dissly is young enough (28) you can extend him and push money forward if the new staff sees the value. Dude catches everything thrown his way, criminally underutilized IMHO.
Plus, Dissly is a helluva blocker, something that a lot of people overlook in a tight end. Besides, it's not his fault that our offense didn't utilize the tight ends.

Dissly reminds me a lot of Zach Miller, who IMO was the best all-around tight end, albeit it a short career, who has ever worn the green and blue.

Agree with this for the most part, I think there will be some hard cuts though, but might aswell rip the bandaid off, and start building JS & MM team with there "type" of players.
Those cuts start with Adams. Imo I don't want him anywhere near this team. Sad to say but for the position/what MM will ask of his Safties Adams don't fit. He is broken and his body can't handle his aggressive tackling style, which sucks! Besides that he can't cover TE/RB to save his life, MM demands that of his safeties & LB's. I also am seeing Adams as a Cancer, he got in the face of team doctors twice, then his attitude was so bad he didn't travel with team at the end of the season. I dont see JS & MM moving forward with an oft injured, bitchy $27 mil Satey that can't tackle or cover. For $ 27 mil he should be our Defensive Captain, pro bowl saftey, he isn't even close, matter a fact Love makes him look bad these days, and we only pay him $10mil? Time to look for better cheaper talent at the position.
I'm not opposed to moving on this year, I'm just curious what Macdonald could drum up with him.... He's easier to move on from next offseason if it doesn't work out, and wouldn't hurt to drum up trade value.

Same kind of applies to diggs (comp pick value instead of trade value), just hard to say what Macdonald can do vs hurtt... There's a reason he hasn't landed anywhere to my knowledge.

Who Hurtt? Yeah he went to be Philly's DC 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
What do you want MM to get out of Adams? Am I missing something? The dude is done, smoked, damaged goods. He has 51 tackles, 0 sacks, and 0 ints the last 2 seasons? I honestly don't care if we save $10 towards the cap by cutting him. Why would we continue to foster baaaad contracts, especially when we arent getting any production. Like I said he don't fit MM style for a saftey, he is literally polar opposite of Kyle Hamilton. I think we need to draft a rookie to fill his roll. Waaaay cheaper, ND more then likely to be available on Sunday's?

We don't know if Macdonald is running the same scheme is my point. And jamal doesn't need to necessarily be slotted at safety. He can be moved around on down/distance/scheme.

Like I said I'm fine moving on, but I don't think Macdonald seeing jamal on the field in offseason workouts in person is a bad idea.

EDIT: hurtt is dl coach, I thought Philly lost it's mind when I read DC lol

That'd be ideal, not a fan of cutting him but need to get some relief there
I hope you're wrong. I'd rather tear down and focus on a rebuild than trying to carry on with continued mediocrity. I see no point in that. Zero. The only way to unmortgage the future is to take some hits. When you're in a hole, the best way out is to stop digging.
I'm fine with (would have preferred) tearing it down, but I think they would have cut geno if that were the case. Why keep him otherwise, he's 34 and has no trade value given the qb market in FA and draft class.

His trade value is nearly eliminated for us with his roster bonus on 3/17.

My list is different if we were starting over.
I hope Lockett is up for a restructure. For an aging #3 WR he needs to take a 2 yr deal in the $8 mil per yesr range imo, which is a major cut in pay.
Dissly also needs to be cut or restructured, $10 mil for an inline blocking TE is insane.
Could also consider a restructure with Dre'mont Jones? Maybe lower his cap hit, and load it with incentives, make him earn his money! With both him and Taylor on the same end was like a open barn door!
Just some thoughts?
Lockett isn't a 3 and he's 32 this year. But yeah I think 8/yr won't fly, maybe if you mean guaranteed. Wr market is going to be turned on it's head with Jefferson/chase and agents know it. Time to resign dk is imminent (probably next offseason) before they get paid.... Guys like lockett aren't setting for 8/yr regardless of age.

Yeah, we only have Dissly under contract. Another reason to free up some cap space and maybe bring back Fant or Parkinson.
TE wasn't used heavily in Grubb's offense, idk we need to spend millions any further than dissly, can be addressed for vet min/draft, fant/park too expensive

I think there's a decent chance they keep Dissly. Especially with both Fant & Parkinson FA's. Maybe they decide to keep him at a lower number.

The Dawgs actually would roll with 12 personnel quite frequently. They had two good TE's in Westover & Culp.

I agree about dissly, I'd prefer an extension for some immediate breathing room.

And you're right about 12 personnel, but I think a lot of that was when McMillan was hurt this year, but I had somehow forgotten about westy lol, so who knows there.

But, my point kind of remains, I think there are better places to spend than TE2, I'd prefer vet min/draft there.

3 New linebackers sorry homers...the ones we have stink...even Bobby.
Where do you think theyd get lb's better than Bobby, cheaper since little cap room, without blowing the draft load on it?

Last inside lbs we drafted early were "stink" -er brooks and SIGNIFICANTLY (I wish I could double caps this) worse Barton in the 3rd (worthless bum)

What could go wrong?

Bobby on another 1 yr cheap deal with a DC who has even a semblance of nfl success is a great option all things considered.

Yes sir Lockett is now our #3, JSN was coming on hot towards the end of the year. After Geno figured out JSN is open nearly every play and stopped forcing it to DK & Lockett as much. Like it or not Lockett has lost a step. Besides use your logic, we didn't use the #20 overall pick for a #3 WR. JSN has made Lockett expendable if he won't restructure? Looking @ Valdez Scantling & Tyler Boyd, $10 mil is what Locket is worth. That could save us $17 mil.

We probably have to sign him to a 1yr deal, just outta lack of depth. Bobby unfortunately has lost a step and is a major liability on passing downs in coverage. Matter a fact he is our biggest liability on 3rd down.

Lockett isn't wr 3 until he's #3 in snap counts.

He was 4th on offense, 1st at wr (he only had 8 more than dk I'm just making a point).

It's also a huge leap to assume that JSN would function as well playing outside vs inside as a full time starter, or operate inside as well with a lower threat outside than lockett.

Lockett definitely has lost a step, and I thought I had suggested it, but I was thinking something like a 2/25 12.5 gtd extension where, for all intents and purposes we'd be paying lockett guaranteed money so we could push his salary back and get some short term relief. If we cut him he'd still get the guarantee along with what he signed elsewhere.

I'm not comfortable with dk being jsn's mentor, and I want whatever qbotf, whether this year or next, to have a deep wr group to minimize league adjustment, ESPECIALLY since Grubb's offense revolved heavily around 3 wr!!!

If he could still play 3rd down the same way he wouldn't be available so cheap.

He'd still be a starter and captain being full time 2 down lb so no shame,

Bias aside even, I don't think anyone can look at our roster and come up with a serious replacement for what Bobby gives at 1/5 mil.

If he's looking long term that's out of the question, but I sincerely doubt he is.

With turning a new page, I would be ok with trading DK and his $24.5 mil. As long as we can get the draft capital to draft for his replacement in the bottom of the 1st top of the 2nd I like
Brian Thomas
Adoni Mitchell
Xavier Legette
Devoted Walker
These would be fun options to replace DK.
There are also a couple smaller speed guys like
Roman Wilson
Malik Washington
They could also be fun replacement just completely different physical profile.
I agree DK if he is to remain on the team needs to mature.

Playing around with the salary calculator, I would probably go this route, now that Geno is guaranteed. This frees up $47m so they can bring back Williams and maybe add a LB or 2 and have a little money for some depth signings.

Jamal and Diggs are both the top paid players in their spots next year as of now.

Adams needs to be a post June 1st cut, but that doesn't mean he's not being cut. While holding him on the books until June 1st doesn't help in FA, the savings cover the entirety of our draft class bills.

He simply isn't going to live up to his cap hit if he stays on board.

Bellore, I could see getting cut. He is far better paid than his utilization as a FB would warrant but I know he does most his work on special teams and I'm not really familiar enough with special teams guys' contracts to say how out of whack (or not) his is, so I really can't speak about it intelligently.

As for Bobby, I'd love for him to stay but he would have to give up some responsibility and need to accept a contract in line with that lesser role. Brooks (or Queen from the Ravens as his replacement) is the far more important re-signing in the LB corps. And Bobby needing to be benched on 3rd and anything greater than 2 yards means we have to have a coverage designated replacement for Bobby signed as well.

Dissly had 17 targets for 172 yards last season and is scheduled to make $10M this year. Seems like he's being overpaid. PFF graded him at 71.3 which puts him at #15 out of 72. His weakest area was receiving where he was graded at 60.3, not good and certainly not worth $10M.

They should cut Jordyn Brooks. I know he's a free agent, but he was so bad that they should cut him as a ceremonial thing, even if it doesn't officially mean anything, like signing a former player to a one-day contract, sort of an amends to the fans for not cutting him before.
Brooks actually graded out even worse than Bush!

Definitely overpaid, but his 17 of 22 is a higher % than either Fant or Colby. The kid produces, just needs a reduced cap hit that reflects his utilization (which should be higher).

Hawks had 3 good TEs last year and were obviously trying to feature Fant. With him presumably moving on, it should open up opportunities for Dissly to provide value given a reduced cap hit.
