You can only choose one of the following free agent moves. Which one do you prefer.

1- LB Ernest Jones for 4 years 50 million with 20 million guaranteed.

or

2- OG Trey Smith for 5 years 105 million with 30 million guaranteed

Both are 25 years old I believe.

Smith. Do whatever it takes. Reset the market (but we won't).

Trey Smith, a 6th rounder in 2021? Ummm, we drafted Stone Forsyth in the same round. Let's just say Stone ain't getting a $100 mil contract anytime soon.

We need new and better scouts!

To be fair, in this case everybody already knew Smith was good but he had a serious medical condition. That's what caused him to fall in the draft.

But I don't disagree with your point. Better scouting is needed for sure.

I'm skeptical that Smith will actually become available. He's really the Chiefs only viable franchise tag candidate.

Jones needs to be here next year or the D declines to 2024 weeks 5-10. We have more than 1 OL "opportunity" to address before we can sustain a competetive product. Sinking that much into a single spot doesn't get us where we need to be.

Maybe, maybe not. We're not talking about the Mariners here. The actually care about winning.
Ownership has a strong front office, but they're also looking to sell the team so I'm not sure how focused they are on winning. Definitely not mailing it in though

I think for me its Jones but its a tough one. I just think we saw some growth from the guards late in the year so I would pray we could get at least one in the draft who could come in and start and one of the other 3 step up. Jones holds the defense together.

Smith would be worth the money imo. I just don't want to lose Jones because of it, that was the question.

IMO, the money should go to trenches outside of a franchise QB.

Jones, it's a no-brainer. We KNOW he works in Mike's system. Smith is a great player but that doesn't mean he will work out. Plus with what's available it should be easier to find a guard either in FA or draft than it is an off ball linebacker. With that said, I choose option C and want both.

Schneider would need to walk around with bodyguards everywhere if he said something like that.
