Sgt. Largent, I have to disagree with your statement. Not sure how it was in the 50's or 60's even though in highlights, it always seemed the giants and bears wore their dark jersys. In the early 80's I believe the cowboys were the only team that wore their white uniform at home, might have been 1 or 2 others. Now I believe the redskins every now and then wore white at home against the cowboys because the cowboys never wore dark and used it it try to psyche them out. If you look back at old seahawk videos I don't think they ever wore white at home.

There's actually a database that tracked this.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's, so I remember seeing a lot of home whites being worn. Apparently "ALWAYS" isn't correct, but it did happen quite a bit during the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Every team has there reasons. It was a bit more common for teams in hotter weather climates to wear white at home forcing the other teams to wear their dark colors.

Cowboys and Dolphins are most well known for it. Saints did pre-SuperDome.

True, I remember Miami wore white, and I remember seeing film on the saints back in the day. Guessing Tampa might've also. I remember Dallas never playing well in their blue jersey so someone had to be wearing white at home

I do remember asking my dad why in the hell the Raiders would choose to wear black at home in the Coliseum when it was like 85 degrees outside? I guess it worked for them cause they were pretty good in the 70's and 80's, but was trying to intimidate your opponent by wearing black really worth being hot as hell?

It will be white jersey & grey pants. For sure.

I hope not. They are 0-3 in those. Losing to all three NFC West opponents last year. Plus I never understood that combo. There is no gray in the white jersey, so it doesn't even match.

I think it will be straight white on white

Regarding the home whites.
Seattle is the ONLY team in the NFL, that has NEVER donned white at home. Its good to be different

Bring back the lime green!

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked these.

You are NOT in the minority. I am in my Green "Dick Gozinya" #69 at this moment.

Funny.

Send those jerseys back to hell where they, and the coach who greenlighted their existence, came from.

Scratch this post. I found my answer. Away teams should be allowed to wear whatever uni color that the home team doesn't wear.

we've worn grey twice and white twice, couldn't we wear the greys again tonight and make the whites our 'alternate' by default, or is there some point where they are specified as our alternates?

White is the standard away color for every team in the league. That's just basic NFL stuff there. And I don't see anything in the makeup of the NFL's owners and league office that suggest to me that they value individuality and creativity. No way could we go with the greys as our standard away jerseys. The league would never allow it.

So how does the rule apply to Dallas? Their home jersey is the white one.

You can don either your road or your home jersey at home. I believe Miami also wears white at home except in prime time. For years Washington and Cleveland did it until recently. There is no rule against wearing white at home

They choose to wear white at home. The home team gets to pick which jersey to wear. White is not their "home" jersey.
