Until I see them eliminated, they're not out of the mix. Injuries absolutely are catching up to them. They seem to have a few glass players too. Kittle is a hell of a player, but he's always hurt. Sucks for McCaffrey, he's a flat out beast. But wear and tear on the body is catching up. Bosa seems to be getting injury prone too. Deebo always playing thru something. Overall, this team is breaking down. I hate seeing injuries, but I'm not gonna' feel sorry for these guys. Ever.

How do you see them having to pay Purdy affect the team?
Not sure what you are asking? Are you asking do I think they should pay Purdy, how much they should pay Purdy, or how do I think they will fit in the cap?

I kind of don't want them to make the playoffs this year. They are not getting past the divisional game, nor is any NFC west team. Having a full offseason with full rest is probably the best outcome right now

49ers actually have one of the highest cap numbers for 2025 right now, its 50 million. The two biggest FA are Charvarious Ward, who will be gone and replaced by Lenoir and rookie Renardo Green, and Dre Greenlaw, who is yet to come back from his torn Achilles.

2026 FA are Deebo, who actually might be traded this offseason and Kittle. I am not sure what you do with Kittle, seems they will probably see what happens next season. Kelce is older than hi but has had a bit of a drop off recently

I think their draft targets will be a LT and DL

Strange to hear a fan not wanting to make the playoffs. But........I can totally see what you're saying. That team needs the time off the heal, big time.

Kittle seems to be borderline glass. Williams is starting to show his age. Deebo is out a lot. McCaffrey, same. If I was a niners fan, I'd be plenty worried.

Purdy will sign an extension in the next 3 months. Much like Lenoir's contract, Purdy's won't have a significant cap hit until 2027. Despite being piss poor at evaluating QB draft prospects, the Niners are quite good at the overall draft game, and the cap management game.

The window is definitely closing... but not yet latched shut.

Maybe next year.

All those extended play off runs take their toll. After a few seasons its almost the equivalent of playing a full season.

I've been waiting for this day, when the 49ers were in the basement, but I wouldn't write the 49ers off just yet, even for this season. They may be 5-6, but they have a fairly easy remaining schedule, with the only one team--the Lions--with a winning record. They get to play the Bears and Dolphins.

The Cardinals probably have the easiest schedule, playing the Patriots and the Panthers, and the Seahawks as the only team they have to play with a winning record.

The Seahawks, on the other hand, have the toughest remaining schedule, with the Packers and Vikings still left to go.
They have the Rams who are still in the hunt, Cardinals who are in the hunt, lions and the dolphins who are playing better with tua back. Bears I agree

I'd say our schedule is easier. Vikings have been down/lucky lately, packers will be tough but I think we take the Rams, Cardinals and Bears

No.. half their stars are injured.
McCaffery won't be the same guy. He'll be 29 next season. Deebo is consistently mailing it in, Aiyuk was too before the injury. No fire. Trent Williams is their only good o-lineman and he's 36. Purdy is a good point guard QB who limits mistakes, but hasn't been able to carry the team without star talent around him. Admittedly, they seem to have found something in Mason, but the window on this version of the team IS closed. They still have some talent, but they need a reload.

Just wondering if you think some good/highly paid players won't be resigned/cut because of Purdy needing to be signed?

They have cap room, and the full impact of his contract wouldn't be felt until later. Plus, he's played himself out of a $60M contract. He's a $30M type guy now.

You have a point, but everybody who evaluates strength of schedule says we have the toughest.

By combined winning percentage:

SEA 35-25
SF 32-28
LA 31-29
AR 24-37

Time for a rebuild in Santa Clara....
Honestly - as much disdain as I have for all things 49ers (**** them).

I don't know how you beat a 9-2 Bills at home in a snowmaggedon bowl.

Reminded me of that horrible NFCCG in Green Bay with us that year.

Told my wife last night when the game was on: these are FUN to watch!!! As long as you're not playing in it!

I went through all of the Niners contracts a few months ago. They will have some tough decisions in 2026, but it won't be until 2027 when the real cap challenges will hit (unless the cap goes through the roof, which it probably will). They have a ton of draft picks to resupply the roster between now and then.

They have drafted well to minimize cap issues in the past. No reason to suspect they won't continue to do so.

There still has been no evidence that they can evaluate QB prospects at even an average level. So it's unlikely that the rumors of drafting a Purdy replacement will be fulfilled.

Their biggest challenges are age (wear and tear), health, and the poor quality of offensive linemen being produced in the NCAA.

Here and there
Wear and tear has this team down at the moment. I could see them rising back above next season, but salary cap is creeping up on them. Wear and tear and money spent is going to bring about change with this team. Inevitable,

A fan not wanting their team to make the playoffs? In my opinion…that makes zero sense…
