The SB loss by itself didn't bother me too badly because finishing "second place" in the NFL is still a major achievement, but two things did, and continues to, seriously bum me out: 1) the fact we missed out, thanks to a single errant play, on an extremely rare and historical opportunity to win back-to-back SBs, considering the limited window of opportunity given us by the collection of driven, gifted, and talented players we had at the time; and 2) it was the Pats of all teams.

How long does it take for you guys to get over a loss? I know me personally, I can't watch anything related to football, listen to sports radio, until around the thursday night game... On sunday, after they lose, I am a wreck for the rest of the day....I am wondering if I am the only fan who gets depressed like this...After the loss to the Saints, I crawled into bed and fell into a drunken depressed sleep....is there something wrong with me? :?:   ...

No time.

I've been following my teams for decades.

They don't win 100% of the time.

Such is life.

About 20 years ago after a loss I kicked a chair and ripped the fabric. I decided then and there that if a loss was going to cause me to destroy my own property it wasn’t worth it. Maturity plays a huge part in getting over a loss. I may be disappointed but I’m over it almost immediately. Too many good things in life to let a football game that I have no influence on to control my mood. I always look for anything positive to take away. Even just a really nice play.

If a fan of a team gets heart-ache--heart burn--head ache--along with anger and depression after a loss ; find another hobby . It's just a child's game played by large adults . Fun but not to be taken too seriously .

Depends on which loss. We're still not over our Super Bowl losses.
I was over the NE loss withiin a day or two for 2 reasons:

Number one it can be argued that the Hawks were fortunate to be there because if not for some extraordinary circumstances vs. Green Bay in the NFCCG our team wouldn't have even been in the Super Bowl

Number two outside of allowing Edelman to play when concussed, the officiating was solid and even handed in the game. Bottom line, the Hawks just blew the game.

And that leads me to XL*......still not over it, never will be over it because the Hawks were absolutely screwed by the NFL imo. They had a script and they were gonna make sure it unfolded as they hyped it. Seattle Sacrificial Lambs. Seattle played poorly that day but so did pissburgh. Even handed officiating and the Hawks win. To have a championship stolen, especially what should've been their first ever, was the toughest sports moment I've ever experienced (including losing in the state semifinals in hoops as a Sr. in high school).
I am so with you on this. SB XL still makes me sick. I have NEVER watched it again and I never will. We had BY FAR the best team on the field that day. Pure robbery.
The only difference between me and many Hawk fans is that I didn’t hold the franchise of Pittsburgh responsible for the loss. That was all on the officiating and to this day, I don’t trust them. XLIX, I have watched two times after the fact. It was an exciting and fairly officiated game.

I get what you're saying about not holding the pissburgh franchise responsible and you may be right. But consider Dan Rooney, owner of the stealers at the time was easily the most powerful owner (sorry Jerruh) in the NFL. I don't believe that to be coincidence.

Doesn't bother me at all... I think an occasional loss is good for the team... It motivates them... there is that stat they showed on TV cant remember exactly the numbers but Wilson is lights out after a loss best out of any QB in history at least that's what I remember it saying...

I am nowhere near how stupid I used to be over losses. BP would elevate to extreme unhealthy levels...I would throw remotes, scare my pets and kids. Then I realized that it just isn't worth getting that upset about. Do I still get upset? Hell yes. I was barking a few times yesterday and my poor dog thought I was mad at her. As long as I have a pulse I will always be emotionally invested in this team. But I am not quite the crazed lunatic I used to be during a game. It just isn't worth it.

But I keep the remote a good distance just in case.

We're getting emotionally invested in other people playing a game over which we have absolutely zero influence or control. How that impacts your life is 100% your choice.

This right here. When they lose I think too bad but it's just not worth getting mad over. I think the losses I take hardest are the season-enders because I have to wait so long for the next season,.

The Super Bowl slightly haunted me. I woke up thinking I dreamed it but then I realized there would be no parade and my work life would resume as normal unlike the first time.
