Man, the way some of the defense is being called out as animals, i.e. "The guy’s RPMs are just revving at, like, 5 or 6,000 RPMs for like 20 seconds. It’s unbelievable. The guy is an absolute animal.” - Mike on Spoon, and Reed on Williams: “F—ing beast!”, I just felt like we need a new defensive name for these guys with some kind of animal theme.

Beasts of Burden

I LOVE it, but just realized the acronym would be BOB which doesn't quite have the same catchy ring to it as LOB, lol. Ah well.

Anyone else with name ideas? Just think, if it catches on, you can brag you came up with the name and you will be rich and famous for the rest of your life! Well, not the rich and famous part.

How about The Bomb Cyclone? After all, our D started coming together around the time that thing hit.

I say you let it just be the LOB. The name belongs to the team. There are just new incarnations.
I don’t know. Has there been a new incarnation of the Purple People Eaters? The Steel curtain? Monsters of the Midway? Killer Bees? Nope. Defensive nicknames belong to a certain set of players. When they are done so is the nickname. Next up.

You can't force a nickname.
The only correct answer and as soon as you bring the topic up, you've killed any chance of a nickname sticking.
It seems the nicknames that stick come from a media outlet at some point and the rest of the media picks up on it fanning the flames until it's solidified.
