At the office here they are having Throwback Thursday (don't worry, this isn't another "why can't we wear our throwback unis???" thread) where everyone was supposed to wear their throwback gear. I, of course have my old school Seahawks hat, t-shirt, and jacket on but it got me thinking about where this team has come from and where it is going.
I remember fondly sitting in my living room as a kid and watching Easley, John L, Joe Nash, Curt Warner, and all the mid-late 80s Seahawks. I remember the horrible Flores years. I remember the excitement when Holmgren came and made the Seahawks a playoff team. I remember upset victories and heart breaking defeats. I remember some great players and some horrible ones.
But thinking about where the team has been and where they are now made me so excited. We are the best team in the league. We have the loudest and best fans. We are on the tongues of all the talking heads on TV and on the keyboards of bloggers and reporters everywhere. We have other fans hating us because of our success. We have become the "it" team in the NFL.
It is an awesome time to be a 12!!!
BTW, just an interesting Throwback Thursday note, one of my co-workers was showing off his game used Niners jersey. I saw the name on the back, put two and two together, and realized I sit about 20 feet away from one of the ex-Niner's kickers from around 2002-2003. He went on to play for a couple other teams as well. Never made the connection until today.
