The only time I have ever seen us ranked #1 in the ESPN Power Rankings was the pre-season rankings AFTER we won the Super Bowl. Hasn't happened since.

I remember fondly, the year the Mariners won 118 games, "refuse to lose" was their motto and focus. I think maybe the Seahawks have a similar game by game focus with "cool-hand" Russ Wilson at the helm. The team has shown supreme confidence since they killed the Bears twice in the same game on back to back possessions. RW's leadership by example and work habits are very much effecting ALL of the other players, just one more excellent reason that the Seahawks franchise QB is their best draft choice EVER.

I think it's pretty amusing, myself. We lost to Miami, reinforcing the can't-win-on-the-road stereotype. We surprised in Chicago -- got media praise for that, but it was a fluke, and Chicago's defense is old and tired. We put a historical beat-down on the tweetybirds, but that was just against a bad team. We added another historical beat-down on the buffs, but that was also against a bad team -- and it really didn't count as a road game because it was on a neutral field. Anybody could beat two bad teams (2x50 happens all the time), but let's see if they can do it against a good team. We beat the digits, but anybody could win with that home-crowd environment, and besides, their best guy was out. (Still not clear if we're supposed to consider the digits another bad team, or an unlucky good team.) If we beat the Rams this weekend, of course it won't be any big deal because we're supposed to beat the Rams, and we have that home crowd, and we're not on the road.


So we've got to wait and see if the Seahawks can beat a good team on the road in the playoffs before we can decide if they deserve high rankings.

I saw the segment too - they teased it for 40 minutes on NFL Network. To get that brilliant analysis was laughable.

Here's the fact - if SF wins against AZ, they will have at least one home game. If GB somehow loses, they could get two and host the NFCCG if ATL loses (I think is a distinct possibility). That stupid tie is coming back to haunt us - as well as losing 3 road games in the division. When you're at home, you are much more likely to win - but without Smith and Manningham and a really shaky Kaepernick, I think SF is very beatable - not only next week against AZ, but even if they survive that they could lose against whoever they play (likely Minnesota).

We on the other hand need a lot of help on the road - but I like the ice water in DangeRuss' veins. Him, Lynch and the rest of our defense will keep us in any game. There is not one team in the NFC that I don't think we couldn't beat based on pure talent and coaching right now. Seriously - and that isn't some homer statement. Atlanta could present the biggest challenge, possibly Green Bay in Wisconsin would be a tough win - but with RW as the leader on offense, I am confident they would have a serious shot at any of them.

So I'm watching around the league live on NFL Network and they have a short segment about who will go further in the playoffs Seattle or San Francisco.... The one dude says "not to be on the fence, but I think the team who is playing at home will go further" and I'm like ok, typical analyst cop out.

The second guy, Charlie something or other says "I think Seattle is playing better, I think Wilson is playing better than Kapernick, and Seattle is healthier." Then he says "San Francisco has the advantage and will go further" HOW DOES SH*T LIKE THIS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN......It only took 4 days for the world to forget that we throttled the whiners..... What do we have to do? WILL A SUPERBOWL RING CHANGE THE PERSPECTIVE?

Charlie something is more than likely Charlie Casserly. He is an idiot who think's he is gods gift to football. He also stated today that Chip Kelly would not translate to the NFL and would be a bad head coach . That if he were a GM he wouldn't hire him, and there are a ton of candidates he would take way before him.

The guy is almost as bad as big bird the draft "Specialist"

Also I think we have gotten way more press this season than 2005, and more of it positive.
