"...in here for soon for sure..."

"There will be another banner hanging up in here for soon for sure, and I would love to be a part of it. I feel like we come out and start close to how we finished the year, I think we'll be great. I mean I look at this defense, I look at the pieces we have that are young and think we can be one of the best, if not the best, defenses in the National Football League. I'm just excited about the future here."

I think a little bit of him trying to bait the Seahawks to pay him top dollar.

Everything he’s said is about wanting to come back. That doesn’t entice higher paychecks. Teams try to get discounts from guys like that. I hope he gets a fair contract and is here for a long time. He’s a lynchpin piece who won’t be easy to replace.

You gotta like passion....and stats. Get me Dre Greenlaw in free agency to pair with him. Dre can be had on a prove it deal. The Niners want Dre back. Thev 9ers are stretched. Superb Owl.

I think we can try to be a little less cynical for once and suggest he is simply saying exactly what he feels.
I hear you, but in this day and age of athletes and their agents, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a hidden message in there to the Seahawks that he would be a key piece in them winning a championship potentially which with I agree. If they do not re-sign him then the chance of reaching a championship is that much tougher.

As I’ve stated before, he will 100% be re-signed because the Seahawks do not want to have egg on their face in having traded for him midseason and lose the draft picks for a non-playoff year. I know the compensation was different, however, there are some similarities in this versus the Jamal Adams trade as they had to give Adams anything he wanted or else the Seahawks would look like complete fools having given up 2 first round picks for a guy that left.

He's worth it, although I think you're thinking is a bit off. That kind of enthusiasm gets the front office thinking "home town discount." I hope they don't low ball him.

My hunch is that there is a good chance Jones will be signed by the Seahawks to a reasonable deal. Not because Jones really wants to be here, but because I don't think the rest of the league sees him as a top-tier LB. He was traded twice in 2024, both times for underwhelming compensation.

We think Jones is a solid piece because we saw how he (and Tyrice Knight) transformed the defense. But the Rams were never sold on him, and traded him for a 5th rounder. PFF grades Jones as a below-average linebacker. Add to that his injury history, and I don't think teams will be lining up to give him top dollar.

IMO if he was trying to squeeze top dollar he would be saying the opposite of how much he loves it and wants to stay. He'd be giving the soundbytes like "knowing what I'm worth, doing what's best for me" etc His agent probably wishes he would tone down the wanting to stay stuff

I'm kind of tired of hearing "the rams didn't believe in him." Yes they did, McVay did not want him gone. MLB is just not a position they value and want to pay good money to so they wanted to get something for him before he walks. But they absolutely do value Ernest Jones.
