Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to root for the San Diego Jaguars? Don’t laugh. It just might happen and if it does it will be because of the almighty dollar. A series of events over the last half-decade or so, including one very recent encounter, has laid the ground work for San Diego to lose one NFL team only to have it replaced by another one from north Florida.

Stranger things have happened I suppose, just wish it didn't involve such a mercy-hump franchise.

No chance at all of this actually happening. Like, zero chance.

If the Chargers leave S.D. it will be for L.A., and it would be idiotic for another team to move to a small market like San Diego when the team San Diegoians have always rooted for is still just 45 minutes north of the city.

There will be a team in London a team in Toronto and a team in Mexico city before there's a non-Chargers team in San Diego.

Toronto I can see, London not a shot. London would be a travel nightmare.

^^^ Yeah, totally agreed.

I think London is idiotic, but still somehow not nearly as idiotic as a non-chargers team in S.D. (assuming if the Chargers move it will be to L.A.).

I guess if makes sense if the Chargers move to LA then SD is going to look to acquire another team..............but that's only going to happen if they can get their stadium deal done in the next couple of years.

But then they're going to be competing with other cities.

I would expect the Raiders to move south before the Jags across the country, I know Mark Davis says he wants to stay in Oakland but if he is entertaining San Antonio then why not San Diego. Rams and Chargers share a Stadium, nobody changes conferences or divisions. Or Charger get their stadium in L.A and Rams build one, Raiders get the San Diego proposed complex. If the Chargers announce a move and they are on the verge of a Stadium approval in San Diego I bet it is pushed thru and the City sues the NFL or something with the Raiders possibly awarded as well. Lots of options and leverage that could be made like Cleveland did.

Maybe I am judging by appearances too much, but Khan doesn't strike me as the kind of owner who wants to be remembered for moving a team.

He owns a soccer team in Britain and seems to know the fanbase there well. NFL fandom is growing fast in Britain and Europe the last few years. These new fans need a team to root for (LOTS of them picking the Seahawks and Pats, but merch sales for all 32 teams in Britain is "white hot"). Jacksonville is a small market team that needs to attract more fans by trying to get a piece of a growing fanbase. It's had mixed results, but it was smart to try. Khan is a smart businessman.

I guess we'll see what he does. I'm just going off feel.

I do think it will happen in London, but don't think it should. We already have teams, you can't just switch.

I think it would be a logistical nightmare to have a team overseas. The NFL is getting more popular world wide and I can see where fans in London and other cities want to see live NFL football for 8 games a year but I don't see it working out with the travel.

The SD stadium debate has been going on for years. When I lived in Oceanside in 2008 they were proposing building the new stadium by the little airport off of the 76 hwy.

All these years later and no progress. It would seem the only people wanting to keep them are unfortunately, the fans.

All true, but pretty sure Roger really wants it.

I was gonna say....
I don't hear talk about the Bills moving to Toronto any more but I don't think the Jags are long for Jacksonville. The attendance and TV ratings just aren't there.
Problems in L.A. are that there are just too many other things to do and traffic is a nightmare even on weekends and people just don't want the hassle.

So many rumors are everywhere right now, it's pretty much useless to say anything.

But, if Jags are going anywhere that is not that place in Florida, it's: that place by the muddy river.

The only way I could see it working out with the travel is if the NFL can expand four teams to Europe to have their own division. That way, teams from Europe could be scheduled to go on 5 week American tours for their 5 away games out of division and teams from the U.S. would go on two game Euro tours to play that division. The NFL would have to set up European and US practice facilities for teams on tours.

I can only add that JJ says next addition after LA is London, then Mexico City.

We all know he talks a lot....but, the dude has plans for making $$ and that is what the NFL owners want. Don't be surprised in a 2 or 3 year time when one or both are true.

He said point blank the Tuesday after the Superbowl that "someone" would be nailed for deflategate and I didn't believe that at the time either.
