Maybe this is just wishful thinking as a Seahawks fan, but in the national media's attempts to crown the Rams as champs, I feel like this is being totally ignored.
They start off by giving up a home game, and an important one at that, to play the 49ers in Australia. They're likely to get the best, and healthiest version of the Niners in that game. Just like we did to start last season. That's definitely a game they can lose.
And the approach of the two teams seems like it's going to be completely different. I've read that the Niners will be in Australia for a week to get acclimated to local time. But the Rams are basically going to fly in and out. Which approach will be the correct one?
Week two is a home game against the Giants. I think we'd all expect the Rams to be victorious. But will they be messed up from the Australia trip?
Weeks three and four? Denver road, Philly road, back to back. Brutal. At least Denver will be a night game. Philly is the dreaded 10 AM Pacific start.
The Rams probably won't start 1-3. But would it truly be shocking? If they lose in Australia, IMO they'll be no better than 2-2 after four games.
Then look at our schedule. Week one with the big home field advantage in the season kick-off game. Week two is a 10 AM Pacific road game. But with the extra days' rest after the Patriots game, that's probably not a big deal. Week three is a western road game. Week four is another home game, against the Chargers. That's a schedule that's setting us up for success.
