JC always seemed to have inside info on teams around the league. Had some connections to use to gather his knowledge. Our favorite football nerd.

John's tone, cadence, timing and strategic pauses held your interest and you knew if he broke a story it was likely 100% true.
Makes me miss the NFL we once had, like remembering Pete Gross call:
TOUCHDOWN!! SEAHAWKS!!!

He had a reputation of treating everyone around him with a lot of respect and dignity.

I googled and read it was liver failure. Unless he was a chronic alcoholic (doubtful), could have been genetic. No matter, he was a good reporter, a quirky but gentle Soul and impeccable at his job. He is sorely missed.

Really? I thought it said he was battling a Heart condition....

The professor was a legend. He used to get into it with Sean Salisbury back in the day on air and would put him in his place.

I remember him explaining on air how he only eats once a day. The hosts were telling him its not healthy..

Clayton was great. My favorite sports journalist. Boy Howdy and John doing the fan fiction bit on Brock and Salk. Such good stuff.

Clayton is someone you can talk football in depth with and would not end up shouting at each other. With someone like him, one's strength would be knowledge, not in delivery, ie how loud and how fast.

Yes, we all love Clayton.
