Russell Wilson....

At least for this week. You can't listen to or watch a sports radio or TV show, or browse the internet without them talking about Russ.

Will he start? Speculation about how short a leash? Will Justin Fields replace him? Can he see the field? What's with all of the sacks? Can he regain some of that razzle dazzle of Seahawks years before.

He's got a new haircut!

The thirst for all things Russ just can't be quenched.

Even when his best years are clearly behind him, he still gets press. Gotta hand it to him.

He was one of the elites with a SB trophy . Unless he turns it around , he'll probably "fade to Bolivia" ( Mike Tyson quote)

You may have accidentally hit the jackpot, Wilson does everything he could to be noticed. From frequent change of hair style to funny videos, to presser signoff slogans.

Yeah, that's one of the things that led to Russ's decline in popularity, i.e. over exposure. He's too extroverted, too eager and willing to get his mug in front of a camera or microphone, too much information about his life and lifestyle, he and his wife appearing in public with her dressed like a cheap hooker.

I think of Russ's plight like I do some of those over used commercials that were once funny or at least not objectionable but after seeing them for the ten thousandth time, it creates this "oh no, not that guy again!" type of feeling. Jake from State Farm comes to mind.

There are some borderline awful quarterbacks about to start the regular season that somehow have avoided the second-guessing from the press.

Sam Darnold? Deshawn Watson? I could go on..

I suppose they're the equivalent of mashed potatoes in terms of generating hits or views or listens.

Bro probably misses Southern Alaska… if he was bad here only half the fan base would notice and the other half will continue to make excuses and put blame elsewhere and treat him like the MVP of the world.

At this point, I think Jake from State farm University could take the QB1 from #3.

I wish #3 didn't become what he became. Does that make any kind of sense ? 🤔

To be fair, Russell didn't have that bad of a season last year, at least statistically. He was ranked 8th in passer rating, driven by a very favorable TD:INT ratio.

Your wish makes complete sense, at least to me. Russell went through a metamorphosis, is a completely different person than he was when he first broke in.

He's the textbook example of why TD:INT and passer rating don't tell the whole story. 62% of the Broncos' passes were within five yards of the line of scrimmage last season, the most in two decades. Their offense was painful to watch. And it shows up in Russell's advanced stats. His passing EPA (expected points added) was 30—less than Sam Howell's 31 and half of the 60+ that Geno/Mayfield/Stroud put up.

Lol, give me example of other QB who gets high volume TDs w very small INT that was considered a terrible QB that season w top passer rating.

I believe Alex Smith operated in the same manner.

The problem with #3 is that he couldn't run Payton's offense the way the coach wanted .
Compare R Wilson to Brees .
Same coach , same scheme , massively different results. The last season #3 was with Payton , Denver had an epic defense yet they had a horrible season . Was it special teams that let the Denver faithful down?

Payton ate the world's biggest cap hit to get rid of him.
