The Injury Report Designation issue

So here's my problem :

Spoon was listed as a Full Participant in practices on both Friday and Saturday, right? right.

That tends to imply he will be playing on Monday Night.

However, I see that on the recent official injury report, he is listed as "questionable".

I was sitting there wondering "Why isn't there a 'Probable' designation?" so I researched and found out that there WAS but it was removed in 2016.

I don't get that decision by the NFL. I really don't.

And imo, the reasoning behind the decision is stupid.

What do you all think?

I would say this rates very low on my ability to enjoy football.
My point is that if there was still a "Probable" designation, we wouldn't be on Pins-and-Needles wondering if a player will play or not just because a player is listed as "Questionable". 🙄

Imagine the "Probable" designation still existed.

Spoon would be listed under "Probable" and we'd all relax knowing it's confirmed he will basically play.

I've gone through Seahawks injuries for decades now. Worrying about them from a fan perspective is trivial in my opinion. Watching the games themselves is enough stress as it is.

Edit: This is not to say I don't appreciate the weekly posts from Kidhawk. I just don't stress over tha actual designations unless it says out, 90 minutes before the game starts.

Maybe because players listed as "probable" actually played in the ensuing game about 99.9% of the tiime, so they figured why bother? 🤷

If a player is "full participation" in practice and then is listed as Questionable it tells me that maybe he aggravated his injury in practice, or injured something else.

OR because "Probable" was eliminated, and Spoon seems very likely to go for Monday Night, it was the only designation they can give him. 🧐

It can go both ways.

Seems like too many designations only leads to too many chances of misclassifying an injured player, with very little benefit.

Just spit balling here, I actually have no clue but….

If I had to guess, I’d lean towards “money line” / Vegas having something to do with the decision to change designation categories.

Pretty rare that a “random” change like that happens.

You can just read Mike’s body language when asked about them. Seems to me likely that both Spoon and Love play on Monday. Whenever I see questionable my interpretation is always that the player is more likely to play than not; vice Versa for doubtful

The probability of me worrying about a situation that I have no control over is questionable to my psyche. Count me out on this.

My understanding is that if a player can play, they will play. So if ‘probable’ means you’re 90% healthy, it also means you will 100% play.

I can’t think of a time when a marquee player listed as questionable was actually held out of a game. My experience is more typically the questionable player goes off in the game because their body has had some much-needed mid-season rest.

They play or don't come game day, doesn't affect me at all. I don't concern myself with things that are entirely out of my control. If they play, that's great. If they sit, that's what having strong depth players are for. IE; Kendrick, Love, Jobe all rising up during injuries and becoming starting caliber players.

I can't remember but questionable is like a 75%-25% and Doubtful if 50%-50%...

My understanding of the probabilities for playing are that questionable means it’s more likely than not they play and doubtful mean more likely than not that they don’t play. It’s basically as simple as that. The only designation that set in stone is out

Yeah, I believe it used to be:

Probable 75% play

Questionable 50% play

Doubtful 25% play

Out 0% play.

Questionable to me means they are going to play 90% of the time.

Questionable means that, more likely than not, their play is going to give you an upset stomach, and maybe diarrhea.

Love and Witherspoon need to go to IR...they are clearly not coming back any time soon.
Spoon had FULL PARTICIPATION in back to back days on Friday and Saturday.

That implies that he very likely will play.

Whatchou talkin' bout, Willis?
