Coaches and execs that turn into comp pics is complete bullshit.
The comp system needs a redo.
Agreed. A third-round pick for a minority executive is both too much reward, while not being enough for teams to hire someone they otherwise wouldn't have. Feels pointless. Either make it like a fifth-rounder or make the Rooney Rule more punitive.

IMO...there aren't enough Asians anywhere in the NFL ; on or off the field. They are 7% of the U.S. population , for gawds sake . Give them a break...they can be taught football later ; plus think about the comps . ;)

Well, it’s not like anyone can’t do what the Niners have done in having minority candidates other teams want as their hc or gm.

Yeah, but I don't like that other teams are better at it.

Soon, many teams will be good at it. Having been a player is a foot in the door, and 70 percent are Black with 20 percent other.

Well you don't get coaches and executives poached if your shitty, 49ers are doing something right, rest of the owners are not happy with the extra picks from year to year as well. Kind of a situation of if you don't like it win. It really hurt to give all those Kudos to Red and Gold BTW.

The comp system needs a redo.

Isnt it part of the Rooney Rule type of thing? It’s only for diversity hires.

Hence the Rams comp pics for Raheem Morris and Holmes (to Détroit) and Niners for Mike McDaniels and Ran Carthon, etc.

Its to encourage diversity in coaching and exec ranks.

The Rooney rule served it's purpose by now..I don't see the NBA or MLB needing this rule btw.

I think both of the 3rd rounders are because of diversity hire Coaches / Team Execs.

Rams is for Raheem Morris.

Niners - not sure. (Ran Carthon or DeMeco Ryans maybe?)

In other words, we got penalized for hiring guys with white skin. Apparently this is what equality is now

Why not then apply this same logic to players on the field? We have too many players with dark skin, we should award cap incentives for hiring white and Asian players. Only fair right? You know, for diversity.

The Rams should give the Seahawks one of their picks for the Seahawks taking Shane Waldron off their hands in 2021. The Seahawks definitely got the short stick of that deal.

Furthermore, whatever formula they use for comp picks is absurd. How does one team who acquired Javon Hargrave, Clellin Ferrell, Isaiah Oliver, last offseason get 4 comp picks? Here's the link to 49ers 2023 offseason FA signings - https://www.49erswebzone.com/articl...agency-tracker-signings-interests-departures/.

Coaches aren't players. You don't draft coaches so they shouldn't count for comp picks.
There is definitely some absurdity to the calculation. If you sign a player whose contract has expired then that player counts towards the formula FOR his previous team and AGAINST your team. If you sign a player whose contract was terminated it doesn't count towards the formula for his previous team, (and rightly so), and since it doesn't count for them it doesn't count against you. That bit is the bit that's contentious. Signing Diggs or Adams won't count against a team that signs them. Signing Brooks would count for you and against the team that signs them, (because they've taken him away from you). Most of the compensatory picks aren't valuable enough to be concerned about.

Unless your bonus seventh rounder turns into Brock Purdy. Or your fifth into George Kittle. The Niners, I have noticed, are quick to move on from draft misses like Trey Sermon and Ty Davis Pricel I anticipate the same for Danny Gray if he doesn’t show in camp. With multiple extra picks, they’re gonna keep doing it.

Twist of fate and fortune. In complementary picks terms the Seahawks have had a great 1st day of 2024 free agency. The downside is that you have to lose good players, in this case, Lewis, Brooks, & Parkinson 😢. Potentially there are 4th, 5th, and 6th round picks heading your way in 2025 if you don't sign FAs that will counteract those losses.

Funny thing is that the 49ers might of been screwed too, as they lost McGlinchey and Jimmy, Hargrave washed McGlinchey but they should of received a 3 for Jimmy, only given a 4. The picks they received was 3rd, Ran Carthon TEN GM and the rest were players lost.

Ridiculous isn’t it? The whole idea is a sham just to make people feel good
