Because I'm kind of an asshole, that's why.

I've always just felt Jason needs some stability and coaching. He's had absolutely none since arriving in the NFL. None.

Thankfully for him, he has a good tutor now.

I agree. He's a bit like Alex Smith in that the coaches that have had him did him no favors. New OC every single year. He was playing fairly well before he got hurt in Oakland. I wouldn't have minded seeing him as a backup either.

That line in Chicago should skew anyones vision of who a player is. Rachal is one of the worst guards in the leage. Carimi was a HUGE bust. Horrible. I like Aldon Smith and all, but NO OLB should be able to put up 5.5 sacks in a game. Nobody.

Aye. Reminds me of the G.B. @ Seattle game last year. 8 sacks on Rodgers in the first half, LOL. That should never happen, without exception.

Whats even worse is that he has at least 1 more called back on penalty.

Didn't they give up like 9 sacks in the FIRST HALF vs the Giants a few years ago? That line in Chicago is a joke.

Rodgers has already had two seasons of 50+ sacks, and he has only been a starter for five seasons thus far in his career. I'm surprised he's still in good physical shape, to be honest.

And that's why Jay Cutler is better than people give him credit for.

Other QBs that play behind avg at best OLs (though not as bad as Chicago):

Tony Romo
Eli Manning

On the flip side, if RG3 goes down, they have a pretty solid back up in Kirk Cousins.

Debatable. I think you guys would be toast without Kaepernick, he brings a totally different dimension to your offense... even more important now since your best WR is on the shelf for most of the season.

GB - definitely, although Young is a better option than Harrell.

49ers without Kaepernick = 8-8, 7-9 at best.

Every time he's been on the field this preseason for more than 4 plays, every instant of the 49ers moving the ball or getting points has involved Kaepernick escaping the rush and making a play at least once. They are doomed without him.

Incorrect. Quite a few teams have decent back-up options.

The issue at hand is how reliant franchises are exclusively on the "franchise QB".

Are the back ups really decent... or is there just not a huge drop off between back up and starter?

The NFL has always suffered a lack of quality, starting QBs. That's one reason Half the league has never won a SB, while Pitt, Dallas, GB and SF have won 20 between them. I'm with the poster that said no NFL team can afford to lose their starting QB. And that definitely includes the Hawks.
