This years team appears to have some real depth on the roster. Cb,Te,Dl,Wr and even the Oline. There will be some good players lost this year during roster cut downs.
Good point. However, I believe the Seahawks are more stable at QB than they were in 2011. Other than that, it does have a strong 2011 vibe to it.I agree. It feels very 2011ish. Remeber when the backups were just better than, kicking asses, taking names. Everyone playing with their hair on fire.
Feels the same.
I hear you. I think Geno is more cerebral, and I see him going off this season. However, we were really an amazing offence with the read option for a minute there, but it didn't last. We have not been a dynamic offence since.Good point. However, I believe the Seahawks are more stable at QB than they were in 2011. Other than that, it does have a strong 2011 vibe to it.
If you're thinking of RW's rookie season, that was 2012 not 2011. I believe that is what you mean by amazing offense with the read option. The offense in 2011 was anything but amazing (my opinion). The QBs in 2011 were TJack and Charlie Whitehurst (Clipboard Jesus).I hear you. I think Geno is more cerebral, and I see him going off this season. I think Grubb at Geno's will be a very popular theme this year.
Dynamic play and dynamic play calling.
Disciplined offensive line play! PLEASE GOD! Quickest way two a 3 and out is a holding call, or offsides.
Yes, end of 2012 was the last time I saw a dynamic offence. Granted spurred on by epic defense. If you're thinking of RW's rookie season, that was 2012 not 2011. I agree.I also feel we've picked up a lot of decent journeyman-level depth (better than practice-squad-level) without overpaying. JS and MM seem to be really nailing player acquisition. Besides the refs, it was tissue-paper-thin depth in the secondary that cost us both XL and XLIX. (Etric Pruitt in XL, Tharald "Toast" Simon in XLIX, Pete inexplicably leaving Marcus Burley inactive)
Sometimes Pete's "Father Flanagan" reclamation projects worked out, and lots of times they didn't. MM doesn't seem as inclined to play Father Flanagan as Pete was, and seems to score slightly better talent overall. We'll find out soon enough with the linebackers that JS/MM have brought in.
It does feel 2012-ish this season. I'm excited to see a defense that stops the run and finally gets us level with SF and LAR after years of our D being their biatch.
Yeah I was a little hesitant on the oline. But I feel if our starters can stay healthy we have a couple guys that can be good fillins. Also there is also a chance we may still add another lineman during roster cut downs.I would disagree on offensive line depth. I just don’t see it. For me depth has to be able to step in and play well. I’m not sure I see that in our offensive line. I am open to being wrong and it’s still early yet but I’m just not swing that yet. I do agree that we have crazy good depth at DB, DL and solid depth at TE and WR. I think we may even be surprised at the RB depth too.
I agree that I've got to withhold judgment on the offensive line until we see how they perform.I would disagree on offensive line depth. I just don’t see it. That's how I'm looking at it too. Thank you for the helpful summary of changes from last year. An O-Line that doesn't totally suck, and is at least NFL average overall, and actually GOOD at something, either run blocking or pass pro, would be refreshing.I agree that I've got to withhold judgment on the offensive line until we see how they perform.
However, wouldn't you agree that on paper we're better than we were last year? We did lose Damien Lewis and Evan Brown, but we picked up Connor Williams, Laken Tomlinson, George Fant and Chritian Haynes. That's a solid improvement. And if Lucas and Cross can start the season healthy, that by itself will be an improvement over last year.
