Third-down specialists telegraph defensive intentions and are generally only valuable if they're really good at what they do. Which Taylor hasn't been, for years.
He has had some wide 9 success. And he's athletic enough to cloud the flat. (I not suggesting he does the drop zone stuff.)

You all have to remember how Pete used these guys may not be how Mac wants to use them, Pete liked to put a square peg in a round hole and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. We may see these guys play a position named the same but have vastly different assignments.

Please don’t try to quiet my outrage with rational thinking

No doubt! I mean Taylor plays like he has one arm taped behind his back, can't set the edge. We've all seen this misery with our own 2 eyes?

Wow! I've been in complete agreement with everything they've done this offseason prior to the FA period. And I've been in full support of JS throughout most of his tenure here. But this Taylor extension is really beginning to make me question some things. How is he worth 3/24? Who were they bidding against? I can't imagine he was in high demand. I thought they would let him walk.

This is the same way I felt about the Dissly extension. Huge overpay. I don't get it. I guess I need to see how much of it is guaranteed, but at face value, I hate it. I'm trying to trust JS and Mac on this one, but this is a tough one.

Taylor is going to be a great weapon for Mac's scheme. Don't look it at from a context that Taylor is going to line up in the same spot every snap. Think of Taylor as a joker in the front seven where he will be moved around to generate pressure, hurries and sacks.

I've thought D. Taylor has been forced to play outside of his natural position the entire time he's been here. Go back and watch some Ravens Defense Film for the last two years. MM wants to disguise where the pressure is coming from.

Go back and watch some of Taylor's college tape and compare his play to the last two years. Then go watch his tape over his four years with us. You can see from 21 to 22 when D.T's play dropped off. In 21, D.T played 60% of his snaps on the right side and about 40% on the left. Then in 22, when Hurtt took over as DC, Taylor was forced to play 90% of his snaps on the right side. What in the hell?

Clint Hurtt had no business being a DC. We all know it. I think the young man will be excellent in Mike Macdonald's defense. Just wait.

Love the concept, hate the player. Taylor has shown nothing to suggest he should have got more than 1 year to prove himself in the new scheme.

Every opposing team targeted Taylor and he constantly got blown up. This would have been like resigning Sean “turnstile” Locklear to a multi year extension at left tackle money (above market value) or a pathetic RT. Stop being desperate.

I highly doubt he sticks around for 3 years. Not a fan of this deal, but whatever. Not my money. Change our minds, kid.

While watching Jon Rhattigan play last season, I wondered about his potential to eventually replace the versatile Nick Bellore on the team. I guess that is now something to look for in 2024.

Not a fan. But maybe he breaks out in this scheme. At least it's not guaranteed. It looks like they have the option to cut him in camp.
