All-Pro Tyler Lockett would be the Rams' best WR since Torry Holt.

Lockett had the 3rd highest receiving DVOA in the NFL, as a rookie. Austin was ranked . . . 86th. Lockett's route running is another level, and his hands are way better.

Austin is a poor man's version of Lockett on a rich man's salary.

You are way overrating Lockett here. Having an elite QB and playing in a better offense in general will make you look much better.

Also, he's an all pro return man - not WR

And you are INCORRECT.

Lockett will once again prove it this year.

These arguments are hilarious. Lockett is only good because of Wilson?

You state Wilson is elite, but 2 years ago he was only good because of his defense and Lynch. Sherman is only good because Earl... or is it the other way around?

Whatever you want to keep telling yourself. I like Tavon, I don't particularly think this is an overpay because he is your #1 receiver (and it's not even close) and that is what the market dictates. People need to adjust to what the new contracts are. If Tavon continues to improve (IF) then this will be a good contract in 2 years because it will likely be a middling contract at that point.

However, RamFan, it's a bit disingenuous to knock down an all-pro rookie just so you feel better about your own player.
