Tricky thing is even when we have had the physical or schematic advantage on paper (see 2020) McVay has found a way to beat us. It used to drive me crazy watching him on the sideline knowing that even when they were down by a score or two, that he would slowly out-wit Pete and find a way to break our hearts. No lead is ever safe with that dude. I can't stand the Rams, but McVay... The dude is brilliant.

To paraphrase Mike Tyson, everyone's brilliant until they get punched in the mouth. It's a new season - game on.

Brilliant? Oh brother. Gonna ask him out?
Stop

Nobody with any football knowledge can deny that McVay has the “it” factor.

Confidence and support of your own team is what fans do, blindly ignoring the reality of the opposition is what fools do.

Check the stats, McVay has been fairly successful against the Seahawks.

Very well said.

Hopefully Macdonald can call a great game on Sunday! Go Hawks!

Indeed. Time for the youngster to come in and show McVay how it's done now. Really this is shaping up to be like the prime Carrol-Hawks/ Harbaugh/Niners rivalry days. One of my favorite times of Seahawks football.

Yeah, McVay was 10-5 against PC (at times it seemed worse). I remember that smoke-and-mirrors 12-4 season in 2020 when the Hawks won the NFC West. We played the Rams in the Wild Card game, and I did not feel good/confident at all heading into that game. My uneasiness was justified as we went down to them 30-20 in a game that felt even worse than the score indicated.

I think hiring MM was an effort to bring in a young, fresh, innovative mind to go against the likes of McVay and Shanahan. So far MM is 1-1 against McVay, and the loss was an overtime loss. Pretty good start.

Well said Keas.

Also - I don't think you can emphasize enough what an absolute game-wrecker Aaron Donald was. He was one of those guys that could ruin a game all by himself - and did many times against our Hawks. His absence - despite the rams having some very disruptive players - is HUGE. None of the guys they have now are even close to what Donald could bring (especially against us).

Fair enough. Should have /sarcasm

I will happily bow out of this Rams and McVay worship fest.

God Bless him, AND thank God he is gone. Agree 100% we destroyed gameplans and will go down as the guy who destroyed Russell Wilson's career, albeit unintentionally. It was his arm or helmet that Russ 'hammer toed' his finger into.

But yeah, you could call the right protection, bring a guy in to double him, add a back, and he could still break your plan. All world talent.

Super interesting take. I never really connected the two events together.

Were Russ’ dead eyes due to concussions or some weird low-energy trance state he got into? The second I saw them I knew I could stop watching for the first half.

Donald may be the best DT I've ever seen. I mean, it's a short list, Allan Page, Joe Greene, Merlin Olsen, maybe a couple others. That guy was hell to stop.
