Right now Williams is ahead of Harper on my roster, but there's a lot of preseason left. Also Harper's a rookie they were pretty high on drafting, and his potential will carry some weight in this discussion. I think they both make the team as #5 and #6, but if not, Harper (probably) gets stashed on the PS and Williams makes the team.

I actually like Harper more than Williams, Bates and Kearse just based on the fact Carroll and Schneider valued him enough to draft him.

Harper and Bates seem redundant. Like someone posted, Bates will probably see the PS. Harper wouldn't make it as a 4th round pick.

I'm seriously unhappy about Harvin signing a mega contract and sitting most of the year right away. He's earning his injury prone moniker.

You are comparing a 3 year player vs a rookie. A rookie WR just doesn't come into the NFL and take it over by storm. You have to be patient.

Doug Baldwin disagrees.

I don't see either of these guys not making the roster. Williams especially is the type of WR Pete lusts after, Tall and big with good speed.

Some rookie Wrs do just fine harper has the size n speed to make it early.

Keeping 6 wrs is a possibility but no lock. Got some good rbs and a decent 3rd qb who are competing for a spot

it's going to be really hard to stash players on the Practice squad this year,...other teams will be drooling over some of them,....I think IR with a bruised pinky may be likely in a case or two

Right now Williams has the slightest of an edge, but that will change over and over as the preseason rolls on. I'll be okay with whoever the FO decides to keep.

I was so focused on Williams' stature that I failed to realize his wheels (!). Pete has been searching for this type of receiver and it looks like he now has his choice. I'd be a bit surprised (all things considered) if we keep 6 WRs this year so..........it will be an interesting race to watch and I anticipate both he and Harper getting a lot of reps over the next 2 weeks.

Either 5 RBs, or 10 OLinemen.

It's harder to find quality OLinemen than fringe WRs. The team's focus on run first is protected by having the extra RB, and getting those guys to run effectively in our ZBS takes some time. Of course the counter is finding a quality WR who is physically dominant isn't easy either, especially one with size length and speed of Williams and Harper.

Harper, there is a reason Stephan Williams is 27 and has bounced around the NFL.

In this morning's practice, Stephan Williams showed off his big catch radius with a diving shoe top catch and roll.

Williams has a injury history, Fitzgerald stated in Arizona that Williams has #1 type ability and if he left would be their guy, it was on the broadcast during the game. I can see Williams as Rice's replacement possibly going forward.

Harper may get the IR treatment to see if he can rehab and develop consistentcy. :) Maybe have Lazik.

-Sidenote- David Boston was a roid freak, which was why he couldn't catch the ball anymore. His arms weren't flexible enough to move and he was so roided out he couldn't focus because the littlest annoyance would cause full out roid rage. The worst thing was that his father was an NFL ref, how sad would that be? Imagine explaining to all of your friends/colleagues on why your son was a complete bust.

Saw Williams interview yesterday. Not impressed. It's pretty clear he doesn't want to play specials, pretty clear he sees himself as a deep threat WR (which is great to be, but be hungry to do it all, man!) He had plenty of reasons (excuses) why he hasn't broken out yet, Fitzgerald, hurt, etc...

Dude needs more hunger.

so that would make,

Tate
Rice
Harvin
Baldwin
Kearse
Harper
Williams

we keep 7 wide recievers? I think who ever loses the camp battle makes the practice squad... maybe bates as well..

Harvin is not going to count as a WR for at least the first 9 weeks, and by then they should have a better idea of what they have, or have had injury make space.
