Admittedly I don’t watch Carter outside of when an Eagles game is nationally televised. I’m not going to bother fishing out his stats but I think it’s pretty damn clear we got the better player by a landslide.

Pretty astute move by JS to take Spoon over Carter at #5. Carter looks like a knucklehead who isn’t anywhere near the dominant player many thought he might be while it looks like we have a future All Pro star.

Well played John. Well played.

This is how you know that JS knows his stuff. DT was, imo, our biggest position of need in that draft. By many accounts, Carter was projected to go #1 overall.

My son and I were at B-dubs and when the announcer said ‘Devon Witherspoon’, we sat there emotionless.

Thank goodness our GM is the heat!!

Carter is off to a slow start this season, but last year, he was one of the league's most dominant interior pass rushers. I believe he was the second DT since Aaron Donald to be in the top 5 in his rookie season.

Spoon has less long-term concern. But I don't think Seattle clearly made the better choice. As of now, Carter's also been a great pick.

Was Spoon a JS pick or did Pete have a hand in it? I don't follow all the inside info stuff.

In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.
I still completely believe that Carter went to one of the few teams where he could truly shine. IMHO, Philly was the absolute best place for him to land. He would be a bust in Seattle.
I don't know about "bust" in Seattle. I just think there's a real chance that he would have took longer than it would have been worth it for him to develop under a Pete Carroll/Hurtt defense, with a higher chance of some dumb shit happening being so far away from "home". I was listening to an AJ Barner interview on Bob & Wyman and he was saying something to the effect of "Seattle being so far away from home, it's good because he doesn't know anyone..". That's a good thing for nomadic headstrong loners, but terrible for anyone who likes to be in the mix. I don't know JC but I feel like he would fall in the latter category. Go SPOON!

I should have said that Carter would have been a bust under Carroll. Under Macdonald might be a different story. Still, I think he has a better opportunity in Philly as he has people to keep him motivated and on track.

The guy I’m really glad we didn’t trade up for, that we all know Pete wanted, is Anthony Richard’s. Guy looks terrible
