Hayne is a long term project, not a stopgap. I doubt he is even being considered.

He was very raw. There's a reason he was cut—he wasn't ready for the NFL.

Obviously they can sign him if they want him on the active roster, but he is currently on the 49ers practice squad.

Would only consider him as an option, if he'd been with the Hawks the whole year. Otherwise, no.
