Because you don't have to hold the "screen" in one hand, while pressing buttons on it. My buttons are on my steering wheel, and I rarely use my screen, except like a giant radio with even larger station buttons.
A lot of people are getting maimed and killed by someone fiddling with, or reaching for a phone.
I've never heard of anyone getting hurt while changing the station on the radio.
Just look at the accident rates, and insurance rates since cell phones became a thing. People's whole lives going in to their phones, and down the toilet.
Gawd I hate phones. I have to be extremely vigilant when riding my Harley. I've had to take evasive action several times with people on their phones pulling in to my lane. Like, wtf. I'm going to get a paint gun, and next mofo is getting their license plate obliterated.
